DENTON, Texas - The first installment of the 2013 North Texas Coaches Caravan kicked off Monday night at Apogee Stadium with a packed club level to hear from Rick Villarreal, Dan McCarney, Mike Petersen, Tony Benford and host of other Mean Green coaches to talk about their programs and the historic move to C-USA.

This was the first stop on a four-city tour throughout the DFW area this week. To RSVP for each event or for any questions on these FREE events, please contact Jessica Hulsebosch at (940) 369-7284 or e-mail at Jessica.Hulsebosch@unt.edu.

On Monday, McCarney brought his usual energy and passion to the event, while fans enjoyed hearing about the Mean Green basketball teams’ recruiting efforts this spring from Benford and Petersen. Two-time defending Sun Belt champs John Hedlund (soccer) and Sujay Lama (tennis) spoke, along with new volleyball coach Andrew Palileo.

The three upcoming tour stops will feature family-friendly activities with special guests including Scrappy, and members of the cheer and dance teams. Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

I want to try and go to the Plano event tomorrow night, but it says the ticket sales are closed. (Even though its free) Anyone know if they'll still take walk-ins???

You're ok to walk up.

Dallas event at Royal Oaks was good. Harry will probably have some notes to share.

Most of us know what a wonderful speaker Mac can be. (BTW - although a little thinner than in the past he looks great, even phenomenal if you consider his recent health issue.) Tonight was no different with regard to his ability to capture an audience while speaking.

I'd never really heard Coach Peterson speak before. he too is quite a salesman. Very well spoken and outwardly a good spokesman for the University. A very exciting recruit to sign with WBB in the next few hours.

Benford had a few interesting things to say. Again, I'll defer to Harry for notes etc.

Good event. Approx 40-50 people there with half or more being non AD people. Randy poured a nice Makers rocks.
