I will go with McCarney's words when he stated he said the defense won the day. I like the fact that

he mentioned we were building good chemistry. I think we may surprise a few this year.

It was a good scrimmage. Offense won early and D won late. Offense wasn't very consistent, but they broke some nice TD plays before the D got warmed up. D was very consistent once they got settled in. Very surprised and happy about the secondary; they played well. The whole D played solid and as a unit. The O was off on it's timing, which made them inconsistent, but that can be corrected.

I'd say the O looked rusty and the D looked more polished. That is good news; in seasons past the O looked great in these early scrimmages and that didn't bode well for the D. Instead, in this scrimmage the D looked good and the O was just a bit off (it's all about timing).
