Does anyone know when they come to Denton?

I was at the largest ever attended UNT basketball game (as many of you on this board were) when we had 10,700 Pack the SuperPit back in the mid 1970's when Bill Blakely was coach. (It was SMU vs UNT and the Mean Green won the game handily as I recall).

10.700? Who said anything about a rivalry? The SMU fraternity that was in the SuperPit that night sure thought there was a heated rivalry a-happenin' that night. Oh well..............

The SMU/UNT game was good example of the power of the media. The headline in the Dallas paper (don't remember which one) prior to the game was "What makes Sonny Run". Referred to SMU BB coach Sonny Allen's refusing to schedule NT in Basketball in the future as well as the fact that SMU was supposed to be a fast break team. NT won and SMU as planned did not schedule NT until Allen was replaced.
