Mangrum To Transfer

Recommended Posts

Yes, you are.

Reasons: 1.) No hands

2.) No hops

3.) Weak

4.) Big White Stiff

5.) name the last good UNT big man white guy Center in the last 20 years

6.) Jones doesn't trust him

7.) His teammates don't trust him.

8.) He's not hungry

9.) I'm tired of typing reasons.

8 of these points may be correct, but he definitely is hungry. I see him eating at Bruce all the time.

Hard to believe that some still have anti-Euro-American (does that work?) basketball prejudices after watching that game on Monday night. Oh well, since the subject matter is getting a little heavy, hopefully Big Ben reads this board regularly and works his butt off to prove his detractors wrong. Personally, I think he has a reasonably good chance to be a contributor.

Confusing headline/post by Vito. Is Collin transferring to another school now and then graduating or is he finishing up his undergrad work and graduating from UNT (before next season) and then enrolling in law school? Who transfers with one semester to go?

Undergrad from UNT in May...off to law school elsewhere next August.

Is there such thing as an APR BOOST?

No, we don't get any bonus points for having a guy graduate early. :)

But, because he's leaving as a graduate to pursue law education (which we don't offer yet), this doesn't even cost us a point for him leaving. It's just like if he'd graduated and gone on with the rest of his life.

As if he rode scrappy off into the sunset

So he's not really "leaving" the program and/or "transferring" to another school. He's graduating (which is a good thing and something we hope all student athletes do). Nice negative spin on this by Vito.

Negative spin? What the hell are you talking about? READ THIS!

Vito loves Mangrum...and yes, Mangrum is probably going to "transfer" to another school to play ball his senior season of eligibility...much in the same vain Dez Willingham did for us a few seasons ago. When you leave one program for another its called a transfer...whatever the motivation may be. Vito in all of his articles and blog posts has been very clear as to why Collin is opting to leave and he, like all of us, support him in this decision.

I was referring to his original blog -- "Mangrum Leaves Program"...."Mangrum to Transfer" -- maybe he was going for shock value or something, but to me that's a negative spin. If I understand it correctly, Collin is finishing his undergrad work in 4 years (which is expected for full-time students) and graduating. His next step is to go to grad (law?) school. This is all very positive and should be applauded. He's not "leaving" the program or "transferring" to another school which both carry negative connotations in this context. He's graduating. Congratulations Collin. Well done!

If he plans on playing, wouldn't he likely have to go the D2 route?

No. You can transfer between D-1 schools without sitting out a year if you've graduated and are pursuing a graduate degree not offered at your current school. Dez Willingham did the same thing when he transferred he from SMU

Yeah, I remembered Dez's direct transfer, but wasn't sure exactly what the stipulations were. Would be kind of strange if he did a reverse Dez and ended up at smu. Certainly don't want to encourage him to go there, but it's close to home, and probably the place where he would be most likely to get extended PT next year. Especially in comparison to Texas or Baylor. Depending on the quality of law school that he is looking at, I guess TT would would be an option with some PT potential as well.
