Watching Miami / Gtech

I was just watching the Miami / GTech game and noticed some recruiting info on the bottom line. Looks like Florida International is getting some solid commits. I don't know what star these guys are but they must be pretty good. QB Jake Medlock commits to FIU over Miami(FL), Arkansas, Virginia, and Florida Atlantic. Defensive back Mac Brown commits to FIU over Ole Miss and Indiana. It also mentions a gaurd named Stanly St. Jean commiting to FIU. Good to see the Sun Belt continuing to get some good players in the league. The Belt has come a long way in a short period of time.

Recruiting has improved overall. But it will take efforts in other areas to earn respect and show this is a legit football conference: facilities, attendance, road travel, more bowl entries, and most of all....wins over larger, established programs. When the preseason SBC league favorite (Troy) gets beat badly at Bowling Green then swamped at Florida by 50 all is not well and league respect takes a major hit.

Troy may be 0-2, but others have stepped up. UL-Lafayette is 2-0 with a win over Kansas State. The muts beat Memphis convincingly and have a good chance of knocking off Maryland this Saturday.
