I'm not asking for Mr. All-World point guard, just someone that can D up against a 1 when needed. Currently, there is NO ONE on this roster that can do this. You have much greater BBall personnel knowledge than I, so surely there has to be a defensive specialist at the 1 on someones roster that is a backup. The Mavs don't need the guy to score. Hell, they dont need any offensive production out of him at all (can slide Kidd to 2 on defense and keep him at 1 on offense), just someone that can cover the 1.

OK...lets say Lindsey Hunter is that defensive PG guru...hes a bit small for Williams, but matches up well with Parker and Paul.

So Hunter takes JJ Barea's minutes...15 a game (leaves Kidd with 33)...and you tell him to go get in Parker's jock. Well Pop sees the scorers table, looks down his bench and says "George Hill, here are you minutes at the point...go give Tony a break." Hunter's defensive prowess is wasted as Parker sits and waits for JKidd to come back in. And its not like Parker wasn't going to get a rest at some point anyway.

The is a reason that the bulk of you "defensive specialists" are Ron Artest, Bruce Bowen, (hopefully) Quinton Ross types...they can match up at the 2-3 spots, which is where the bulk of teams have the bulk of their scoring talent.

Quoner's right...you let the point guard get their points essentially b/c it means they aren't doing their job...the improved defense up front and on the wings means that guys like Tyson Chandler, David West, Manu Ginobli, Richard Jefferson ect, guys who have gone right around Wright or right at Damp in the past, don't have such an easy time with Marion, Ross and Gortat on the floor.
