Saw a reference in Brett Vitto article about UNT freshman making the Rivals.com Sun Belt Conference All-Freshman Team and found this:

Offense: G - Coleman Feeley; C - J. Johnson

Defense: L - Kyle Russo; CB - Royce Hill; S - Darien Williams

Here's the link:

The link must be broken. I clicked on it and didn't see our entire starting 22. We are, after all, the youngest team to ever play college football.

Of course, that's not a fair comparison.

That's the most asinine part of the whole "we're just so young" argument. Let's ignore the fact that there were upperclassmen who could have played, ignore the fact that these were "Dodge recruits" for the most part who were out there, and ignore the fact that every school in America puts younger players out there...let's just pretend all of these facts don't exist, cuz we all just love to stick to the facts.

Let's discuss this whole "BCS schools recruit a higher caliber of athlete so you can't compare their young players to our young players" lunacy. Nobody will deny that a CB or LB who signs with OU, Michigan or Florida State is probably on a different level than the ones we sign. If the argument stopped there this would be sufficient as an explanation. But you have to TOTALLY forget the fact that they are recruited to these schools to play against other BCS schools all season. That's right boys and girls, a freshman or sophomore CB at OU doesn't get to play against the Sun Belt all season...he has to cover WR's in the Big XII. A DT at Florida isn't bull-rushing his way through Ark State, Troy and FIU all season...he has to go up against the O-line of Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, etc, etc, etc. Why isn't Bob Stoops whining about how his freshmen and sophomores just can't be expected to contribute? Why isn't Urban Meyer crying that blowouts are inevitable with youngsters in there? Oh, I forgot, it's because they have coaching staffs capable of getting production out of the players they put on the field.

As we speak the "young" Florida State offensive line has their team up 28-6 against Wisconsin mostly behind a power running game. I guess we shouldn't compare them to us though, they were allowed to feast on the likes of Miami, UNC, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech all season.
