Slinker lands another

UNT women's basketball coach Tina Slinker has landed another all-region player for her 2008 recruiting class in Cy-Fair's Mansa El.

The 5-8 point guard helped guide Cy-Fair to the Class 5A state title game last season before her team fell to Rockwall.

El averaged 8.6 points a game while playing alongside Nneka Ogwumike, one of the top 10 recruits in the Class of 2008, according to All-Star Girls Report. Ogwumike was the focal point of Cy-Fair's offense and averaged 20 points a game. Chiney Ogwumike was also an all-region selection for Cy-Fair.

SMU, Louisiana-Lafayette, South Alabama and Tulsa all offered a scholarship to El, who was named All-Region III by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. El joins Ryan Green, a TABC all-region forward from Crowley in Slinker's latest recruiting class.

(Well, we did beat out some decent schools for this young lady.)

Appears to be a solid recruit. Cy-Fair is a pre-season national top 30 pick. I guess we can dream about getting her teammate Nneka who is 6'2" 175 and a five star recruit and as stated above a top 10 national recruit.
