Former Nt Tennis Player @ Juco Nationals

Lynley Wasson transferred to Mesa CC and lost to #4 seed in Qtrs as #6 seed, team could have used her this year.

It has been reported from a reliable source that Wasson has signed with Houston for the upcoming season. Evidently she wasn't homesick as reported when she left here - probably just fed up with the unprofessional conduct by DP. Reported to have played at a community college because of RV's concealed no release policy. As a 4-2-4 transfer she wouldn't need his release to go from there back to a D-1 school.

hmm that would be very interesting. Any word on who will be the final recruit for this years class?

There are a couple of strong JUCO players locally in Texas.

A player that attends a 4 year school and transfers to a CC or JC must graduate from that CC or JC to be eligible at another university. If not, that player has to return to the original school.

:o

not in Tennis. A player can go from 4 yr to JUCO and then back to another 4 year school after only one year.

Example: Jessica Ferguson was a 4-A State Champ, FR: Missouri, So: Tyler JC, Jr/Sr: LSU

A tennis player can not go to more than 2 NCAA schools.

Bowler, haven't heard a word about a final recruit leaning this way Talking about a 4-2-4 transfer, you can go from a 4 yr to a 2 yr and back to a 4 yr school as long as you graduate from the 2 yr school, whether it's one or two yrs there. Don't need the 1st school's release to play, and once enrolled at the 2 yr school it's like being in high school all over again - the player can talk to other coaches, go on recruiting trips, etc. Not a bad solution for a player that made a bad initial choice. Heard from Houston that the Arizona girl got 40 hours out of the way in a year and got 2 CC degrees. Some of those good JUCO players you mentioned are too old. Heard from a D1 coach that the 5 years of eligibility now has to start when you turn 20. One of those players is 24 already. Coach Sue already has one age violation problem and doesn't need more.

I like the new rule stating that eligibility starts at 20, as these weeds out a lot of foreign players who go out on tour for 2-3 years and thus you have a situation where you hve a 22 y.o. Soph playing an 18 y.o Fr.

This new rule will put the clamps down on Baylor and others who loved to recruit these older players and thus have a great advantage. JUCO does not have the same age requirements nor does NAIA so may start seeing more older players going elsewhere. To bad for UNT if Lama already has an Age issue, but rules are rules.
