GREENBACKERS TAILGATE PARTIES

The Greenbackers will be throwing Tailgate Parties for the following home games this season.

Sept. 17 Tulsa

Nov. 5 Louisiana-Lafayette

Nov. 19 Louisiana-Monroe

Nov. 26 Arkansas State

*We will not be able to throw a tailgate party for the Oct. 4 Troy game because it's scheduled on a Tuesday evening.

For those of you not familiar with the Greenbackers Tailgate Parties, we're a group of fans from the GOMEANGREEN.COM Message Board that has collectively purchased tailgating supplies (canopies, BBQ smokers, grills, etc.) and throw open tailgate parties at each of the North Texas home games. We always buy the best quality foods available, and always buy at wholesale cost or less. The parties are open to all North Texas fans, alumni, spirit groups, students, player's families, and guests from visiting school. All fans are always invited to join us.

At each of the parties the Greenbackers will be supplying traditional tailgate dinner entree's. The plans this year are for Brisket for the Tulsa game, and probably Fajitas, Burgers, and Ribs for the other three home games. We will also be supplying Bottled Water and Coca Cola products at each game. (fyi, although beer is certainly allowed in the Tailgate Area, the Greenbackers have been asked not to distribute it from "The Ice Pool" and you'll need to bring your own)

Eric Becker will be Captaining the Tulsa game party and his group will be smoking almost 450 pounds of brisket for this party.

Stebo, Rick Herold, and JohnDenver will each be Captaining 1 of the 3 remaining tailgate parties in November.

These Party Captains have volunteered to select the menus and themes for their chosen tailgate parties, and will coordinate with their group the events for that day.

Please make sure that you extend your gratitude to these guys. Throwing these parties is seriously hard work.

Together we all make tailgating at North Texas a success.

The Tailgate Parties are located next to Fouts Stadium on what were the practice fields last year. The Greenbackers Party is traditionally located to the immediate left once you enter through the main gate. This year, the fields have brand new lighting system installed around all the fields, and the parties should be able to resume once the game has ended.

Yes. We record all contributions and keep all receipts. Any money not used for this game will be used for the next tailgate party and yor contribution will be credited then.

Although this party is coming along pretty close to buget, there will still be some necessary cost over-runs. For example, it's much more cost effective to buy a season's worth of pecan or mesquite for the smoker than to buy it in individual batches. We are also looking into buying bottled water at 'truckload' pricing. If that means buying by the pallet, we can do that. But if it means buying an entire 18 wheelers worth, well, that's another story.

Please, if you do contribute, make sure I get from you how you want your name to be posted on this board. Some people prefer to use their screen names, some prefer their real names, and still others prefer to remain anonymous.

You all seem pretty set on your tailgate stuff but I picked up the Tailgate Station with the Tailgate Grill from Stowaway2.com and it is very nice.
