Is this an ideal world question? It would really depend on who is available. I would try to get guys who will contribute, but not reach on someone just to fill a position.

Just trying to get a feel for where the fans see our needs.

Ideally:

- QB/ATH Kevin Dillman

- WR Alex Honey

- DT Sampson Saluone

- DE Derek Watson

- DL Carl Thompson

- LB Kyshaun Smith

Now for a little logic. This staff appears set on taking another high school receiver and a JUCO corner. We whiffed on all the JUCO offensive tackles we pursued, but we could still get a May graduate JUCO OT like James Works. Also, the fact that we offered Dillman means we will save a spot for him. If you choose to go after a player like that then you're not going to run out of room for him.

Also, as far as room in this class goes, I think one high school commit has already been informed that he may be a grayshirt candidate and I think there's a chance another high school commit may not have ever truly committed to the staff. I may be wrong on both, but they're possibilities that I'm considering, based on something I've seen. So that's up to two more spots. Jakii Moore was such an odd pickup to me, since he didn't play last year and we didn't recruit him out of JUCO. But I guess he will be apart of this class, although I had to wonder at first if he was a walkon.

Also, Ashton Preston visited SMU on the December 12th, unofficially. If they were to offer then I think we'd be in trouble. But I don't see them offering. If they did he'd be on heavy flip watch and that could potentially open another spot. But again, my prediction there is that they don't offer and we keep him.

As for the guys I said I'd like to finish with, I doubt we're still recruiting Saluone and I think Kyshaun Smith may be leaning towards Texas State. I hope we can get him, since we have a lot of his East Texas friends on the team. Carl Thompson was a bit out of our league when he originally committed, but he had an injury and that may scare teams away. Plus, if we could pull a Guyer kid or two then we could help our chances in getting three or all four of them.

It's obvious we need defensive linemen, but whether or not we can win a recruiting battle there is too be determined. The advantage of getting kids this late in the game is that you don't have to compete for them with all the schools that have offered them at some point. Many offers are no longer committable, so a kid with 4 FBS offers may only have us and 1 other FBS school pursuing him.
