  1. SMU’s offense looked out of sync for the better part of the night. It started on the first drive, when the Mustangs went three and out after two penalties and a sack. Five of the Mustangs’ six first-half possessions ended in punts. On four of those drives, SMU went three and out. By the end of the first half, the Mustangs had just 24 total yards in the first half and only 46 by the end of the third quarter. “We never could get anything going,” Dykes said. “We couldn’t get on track. It just seemed like we were sluggish.” Ben Hicks’ struggles echoed those of the Mustangs’. He was under pressure all night long and had trouble throwing accurate passes to his receivers. He only completed three passes for 27 yards in the first half and threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown by North Texas’ Kemon Brooks to put the Mean Green up 14-0. Hicks rebounded in the fourth quarter, completing six of nine passes for 197 yards and two scores, but it was too little, too late. read more: http://www.smudailycampus.com/sports/everything-that-could-go-wrong-went-wrong If that writer is from SMU, then they should not try to say their education is better than a UNT education because he could not do enough research before writing to realize that it is Kemon Hall and not Kemon Brooks. How do you merge the two corners into one name? I could have excepted a typo if he had Kemon Gall or something like that since G is next to H on the keyboard, but to miss the last name completely, inexcusable journalism.
  2. If he continues to play like this and we can protect him and we continue to win games, his body of work will promote itself. Especially if he has a performance like this against Arkansas and FAU.
  3. If it's money, the only way to keep him is to give him and his staff a ton of money. The only way that can happen is for alumni to start giving like never before. We have a crap ton of alumni, but most are disinterested would be my guess. If it's ego driven (meaning he wants to prove he can win on the biggest stages of college football) not much we can do not being in a P5 conference. Hopefully he wants to do a Patterson and stay and build UNT into a football dynasty and then we have to get an invite from one of the P5 conferences. We have to be a better fit for the Big 12 than KS and Baylor. Even if he did stay to do that and we completely dominated every G5 school and most P5 schools, something tells me that Texas would block us from being in a conference with them.
  4. That had me dying laughing when he said that.
  5. I stayed and it was good. It was very funny to watch. We had a good time watching characters from when I was a kid. Iceman King Parsons and Hacksaw have both got to be about 70, Haha, but it was still fun to see. People that stayed really got into it. It was really cool that they let us onto the field to be so up close and personal with the wrestlers. They did put on a good show. Like someone said earlier, it was a good way to relax after such a dominating win. Plus, by the time it was over, most cars were gone and I had a easy time leaving the parking lot and going home. I even took a picture with Iceman. I remember he used to always say "Like mama used to say, if you cain't stand the heat, then get outta the kitchen." I spelled can't with a I on purpose because that is the way he said it.Haha
  6. Right now they are having a tough road swing. They have not won since they left home. We need to get them back home, go out and support them so they can get their confidence back. They are a very young team and right now I think their confidence is shaken. That happens to very young teams. I mean we only have one senior. We have mostly sophomores and freshmen playing. It doesn't help that Chamberlain, Milam, and Wright graduated last year. I think with the amount of underclassmen playing that they will be a force over the next two years, but this could be a year with a lot of growing pains.
  7. I think we need to be ready. Score a bunch early and get back-ups in defensively for sure. The way those back-ups played defensively against SMU was not good. They definitely need game time work. I think offensively, you keep the starting O-line and all the RBs playing awhile to work on the running game. What better way to work out what went wrong against SMU. They will need the work to prepare for Arkansas. If we cannot at least be a threat to run against Arkansas, it could be a long day.
  8. I was very critical of Ref based on the defensive performance last season. I must say that the defense won this game last night and I am impressed. Honestly our offense only scored 1 TD in the first half and that was kind of a gimme on a targeting call that could have gone either way. Not taking anything away from the offense, they played well, but in my mind, defense won this game. This defense is much improved.
  9. I kept reading different comments on their board about the game last night and many of them kept referring to us as NTCC out of disrespect and others kept saying NTSU. Most refused to call us UNT. We should have posted this gif of Ali asking Ernie Terrell "What's my name?" on the big scoreboard after every point scored while we were beating them into submission and make them call us UNT.
  10. The things wives get us into and we oblige just to keep the peace. If I had a dollar for all the crap my wife has gotten me to go to that I didn't want to, I would never work again.
  11. I want him to make it. If he makes the practice squad, I hope my Steelers sign him to the active roster. To hell with Le'Veon Bell and his hold outs every year.
  12. Honestly this game scares me. I believe we have the talent to win. I just wonder with all the hype that UNT and the fans have put on this game if it is not putting too much pressure on the players and then they come out tight and trying to do too much. I hope Littrell and company can find a way to calm their nerves and get them to play loose. I believe this game sets the tone for the season for us.
  13. That was a really tough 4th set. That is the mark of a very young team. I think our ladies will do okay this year, but they will have some tough losses from being such a young team. Graduating Chamberlain, Mylam, and Wright hurt tremendously. You have a bunch of Freshmen and Sophomores trying to make it happen. One Senior in Jordan Williams. The future is bright for MGVB.
  14. I understand that people are complaining about the track around the soccer field, but let's be honest. It is financially the right thing to do. Why? Because if we are honest with ourselves, soccer and track & field do not generate much revenue in the United States. If you want to make real money in those sports you have to leave the country. I bet you there are not 10 people on this board that can name 5 track meets outside of the Olympics and World Championships without using Google. I bet there are not 10 that can name 5 world class track & field athletes on the USA team. I am not saying that's bad, I am just being realistic. I could not name you one soccer team outside of the Dallas Stars. I want the Mean Green to be great in those sports, but they do not generate the revenue to justify each getting their own facility and I am a huge T&F fan. It's just a fact, the USA is all about football, basketball, and baseball. Everything else is so far behind those three that it's not even funny.
  15. Thanks for sharing this. It's about time we got them out of Fouts.
  16. I believe our ladies can get it done. It's going to be tough because of the time change and them being a good team, but I believe they can get it done.
  17. I loved this story. Glad we gave her a chance. Tech's loss is our gain.
  18. Article says he is a Redshirt Junior.
  19. I recorded the game and went back to watch it. I fast forwarded through everything except when Wilson was in the game. He started playing in the first quarter with about 3 minutes left in the quarter. Looks like he went in to relieve Morris. He ran the ball well. He and Morris alternated the entire second quarter. He finished the second quarter out and started the third quarter. He was then replaced in the third by McNicholls. So, it looks like he was the number two RB and McNicholls dropped to third because I know before they had McNicholls playing ahead of him. Usually the third preseason game is the dress rehearsal for the regular season. I hope that means that Wilson has done enough to at least be the second RB.
  20. This is the type of firepower the Mean Green is getting ready to unleash on those ponies come September 1.
  21. My wife is from Wichita, Kansas and received her degree from University of Maryland online. So, she tolerates my obsession. She will come to a game or two for football depending on who they are playing. She is a K-State football fan, a KU basketball fan, and Wichita State for everything else. Whenever Mean Green plays either one of those schools no matter the sport, she will go, but really to root on those Kansas teams. So it is a divided house when we play Kansas schools. However, we both agree not to talk about those games because that would not end well. Might end in divorce court. Haha. Just kidding but we sure don't talk about those games to keep the peace.
  22. I believe this team will be scary good. That offensive production is amazing having not played a competitive game since the CBI. Grant is absolutely the right guy for the job. Tony Benford is all but forgotten. Haha.
  23. Nice article Brett. Thanks for letting us know what the OL looks like now.
