  1. The plane will probably make it, but you may be assaulted on the flight. That is the Greyhound of the skies.
  2. https://www.si.com/college/2024/03/17/amid-gambling-investigation-temple-mens-basketball-could-earn-ncaa-tournament-bid There is a gambling investigation of Temple. I am usually not a conspiracy theorist, but hear me out. If this ends up being legit, it may explain the refs choking on their whistles in our game against FAU. The money was not to be made in Temple beating North Texas. The money was to be made in Temple beating FAU because they were a final four team last year. The amount of money one stands to win if Temple beat FAU was probably astronomical. The refs had to make sure that game happened. They couldn't let North Texas spoil that. There is no way Temple went from being trash all season to playing in the AAC Tournament championship game. Someone needs to look into friends, relatives, and acquaintances of these refs and see if someone won big during this tournament. Now my conspiracy rant is over.
  3. This was the worst loss of the season. There is no excuse. We cannot blame the refs. They came into our house and kicked our butts. This was just bad on so many levels. It was a good crowd and we crapped the bed.
  4. I am guessing the part about QB coach was being tongue in cheek because he coached TEs.
  5. I understand Kratch leaving is a continuity issue, but will he really be missed? He was a first time coach here and our LBs were not exactly a strength here. They seemed too slow to me, seemed to have trouble diagnosing plays, and couldn't shed blocks. That's just me. We were last in defense in all of FBS so is this really a big loss? I am no football guru, but this just doesn't seem that bad to me.
  6. I will be the first to admit that I am no basketball guru. I really didn't learn much about the game until I started watching the Mean Green, but Edwards seems to not be a great ball handler. He loses the ball so much.
  7. Obviously I want to hire the best person, but coaching is much different than alumni engagement. Plus, Burton is from this area and wants to be here. This guy isn't even a Texas guy. Again, I hope he does well. I just ask isn't there a UNT person out there who could do the job just as well? Part of being successful in a job is having a passion for it. I believe a UNT person would have more passion for the job. If there is not, then so be it. It's just we keep getting these non UNT guys who come in just to use us as stepping stones to the next job while making a lot of money to do it. Other than Jalie Mitchell, what other UNT guys have we had as a HC? There may be some, but I don't know of them.
  8. I always wonder about hires like this. I hope he does well in his job, but is there not a UNT Alumni in this field of work that could fill this position at UNT? Just seems like you need someone who actually cares about UNT in this position. I am not saying that he will not care, but looking at his resume, there is nothing that ties him to UNT and pushes him to make this university great.
  9. I am not saying they don't use X at all because they do. I am saying they are more into Instagram than X. A lot of them will only use X to make big announcements, but their everyday use comes from using Instagram. I hear them all the time when they are trying to ask a girl out for her Instagram kind of like we used to ask for her phone number and rush all over the club trying to find a something to write with and write on.
  10. This is the biggest reason I think. They will have to move to a completely online platform.
  11. Even if you do that you are still losing them after one year due to them being out of eligibility. At least with a HS kid, I have the chance to try and recruit him to stay as when you are out of eligibility, I cannot. That would be my take.
  12. I am not saying you are wrong, but I work with a lot of high school kids and they rarely use X. If you can find his Instagram, that will tell you a lot more. They all use Instagram. To a lot of them, using X is like using Facebook or Myspace to us older folks.
  13. I know the season is far from over. However, most of if not all of the legacy AAC schools were saying that North Texas and the other former CUSA schools were going to bring down this conference and how we do not belong. As it stands, both the MBB and WBB have beaten every team that was legacy AAC so far this year. The only team they have both lost to is Charlotte and they came from CUSA like us. I don't want to hear from those legacy AAC teams again about how we do not belong. I get it that it is still early, but none of the legacy teams have beaten our men or women. So, the next time they talk about "lil old North Texas", they should put some respect on our name. That is all. I just had to get that out.
  14. Coach Burton is from this area. Coached in high school in McKinney I believe. Really wanted the UNT job to get back to DFW from Commerce. If we give him the right amount of money, I think he will stay because he wants to be here. Obviously, he could be money whipped, but I think it would take a lot for that to happen. Let's just enjoy the ride before we start talking about him jumping ship.
  15. This team just finds a way to win. Coach Burton should definitely be the AAC Coach of the year.
  16. For people who know more about basketball than me, how bad will this loss be as far as rankings considering we are down two starters?
  17. I hope he can stay out of trouble. Spending a month in jail for robbery is not a small thing. Plus, Lane Kiffin apparently said his playing time dwindled this year because of disciplinary issues and that's according to Vito's article on him. That says a lot for Kiffin to take playing time away for discipline problems. However, it does not mention him having issues while at Iowa St under Caponi so maybe Caponi understands how to keep him out of trouble.
  18. He was a practice team player. Brett Vito wrote about it in this article. He was killed in a car accident. https://dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/mean_green/unt-women-s-basketball-team-mourning-loss-of-member-of-program/article_8c818864-10ab-525c-99b2-7236aceabed0.html
  19. We keep talking Memphis and FAU, as much as I dislike them, we better not overlook SMU or Charlotte. They are playing good basketball. We are about to run the first gauntlet after the ECU game. We have to go through Charlotte, SMU, FAU and UAB and Charlotte and UAB are on the road. That will tell us a lot where we are as a team.
  20. Thanks for the clarification. By the way, I am not the one who gave you the down vote.
  21. I don't want him to rush back and risk a worse injury, but it is obvious we need him at the PG. The others running point just don't have the ball control that Rubin has.
  22. This kind of sounds like you are ready to start talking about Hodge leaving, but maybe I am reading too much into it. If so, can we just enjoy the ride without thinking he is leaving? If you are not, I apologize.
  23. Reading the first few sentences of his opening comment was hard. Do they not teach punctuation at Temple? Those run on sentences had me reading over and over again to figure out what he was saying.
  24. Do you think they will go after Dabo Sweeney? He is a Alabama grad and that's where he played football. He has had some success and has won a National Championship.
