  1. Maybe he talked to Cole Hedlund who probably told him not to go there. Hedlund was a great prospect coming out of Argyle as well, but didn't do so hot in Fayetteville. Maybe he told him that Arkansas is not all it is purported to be.
  2. I received a call from that guy because of the tickets that I bought to last years game in Dallas. He was trying to get me to buy season tickets assuming I was an SMUt fan. LOL. Boy was he surprised when I said no way Jose and that the only reason my name was on his list was because they had the cheapest tickets to the game. Haha. People say never say never, but I would never go to a SMUt game unless they are playing UNT. Well, maybe if they pay me like they were paying Eric Dickerson I might. Haha
  3. I like basketball and look forward to seeing her play for the Mean Green, but I love Track & Field so really looking forward to watching her in some meets in Denton after the new venue is completed.
  4. Damn but such is what happens when you bring in a new coach.
  5. I like the fact that our targets are all three stars or higher with the exception of two NR and one 2 star.
  6. That's a good sell, but Davenport arrived at UTSA 2 years before Wilson. If I am an opposing coach, I would say that Wilson was just the beneficiary of a talented guy that was left over from the previous regime. However, he does have that selling point because we have to go all the way back to 2004 for our last draft pick. and I would dare say all the way back to Joe Greene for a high number 1 so I certainly can see that selling point.
  7. I think we are winning battles against NutsaCK now because Frank Wilson has proven to be like Tony Benford, a decent recruiter and salesman, but a horrible coach and molder of young men. I mean Grant McCasland, in his first season, got more out of Benford's players than Benford could ever dream of. Wilson had all that talent and NutsaCK didn't live up to the hype. I would say they regressed. Sure he had Davenport, but I could have coached Davenport and he still would have made it because he was just that damn good. Kids are starting to realize that under Wilson, their talent may regress. Littrell has proven he can take kids that no one wants on the FBS level and make them stars. Ala Mason Fine, Mike Law, etc. These kids are figuring out that they will get better as players and men at UNT.
  8. I doubt if we lose them because the only schools that may have a chance are P5 and I doubt if they are rated high enough for a P5 to spend a two scholarships in order to get the higher rated one. If the higher rated one was a 5 star, then I could see a school taking them both just to get the 5 star player. I think they want to stay together and that means the most to them. So, I like our chances of holding on to both.
  9. I certainly agree. Especially about the part where Denton and UNT have finally been able to cobble it all together. I remember my Senior year at Denton High School was the same year they installed turf at Fouts Field. UNT asked the city for help and the city only agreed if Denton High School could play their home games there. So, that year Fouts Field was our home field instead of Bronco Field. I mean I understand Denton wanting to help out the lone high school at the time, but I would have thought they would have wanted to help to bring up the profile of the university so more people would want to come here to increase the tax base. Now if they could just get the damn streets around the campus fixed.
  10. It is Louisiana so at least the chicken was good. Haha.
  11. Hopefully we are convincing kids to stay home like Miami did in the early 80s and built that program into a national power. Only thing is we do not need the criminals like Miami had.I like the way Seth is running the program. I haven't heard of any of our kids getting into trouble with the law. Then the hard headed ones who do not want to listen are dismissed. Plus we do not have any recruiting violations either.
  12. I agree. I went to the Popeyes chicken in Ruston as I was passing through and it wasn't too far from the university and I thought OMG does this town suck. LOL
  13. I may be off base as far as recruiting and may not know what I am talking about, but I think some of the changes in Denton have helped with this. I agree that the winning and the recruiting department changes are the biggest reason for the turn around, but I think some of the changes made in Denton helps. When I was growing up in Denton there really was nothing here. The square, Hickory and Oak Streets were nothing but pawn shops, feed stores, and other small town stuff like Wolfs grocery, etc. If you were a college student who visited Denton and considered UNT, I am sure that went into some decisions. I mean if you do not have a car, it was difficult to get to Dallas and Fort Worth to enjoy some nightlife. We all had to hang in close proximity to UNT to have any fun and being on campus all the time was boring. Now these kids come here and there is a nightlife for them, there is a transit system to get around if you have no vehicle, and DCTA can get you to all parts of Dallas. I spoke to a bus driver for Wynne Transportation that told me he has driven a lot of recruits and family members for UNT visits and they always take them to the square to show the changes that Denton has made. Again I may be off base, but I do think it helps.
  14. I would say something about this topic once I see what the kid does.
  15. I am with Brett on this. I do not know of any family from southern Texas that vacations in upstate NY. Plus the kid took an official visit. There could be trouble hanging on to him.
  16. Texas has done it on the football field. I watched an old game for a few minutes on the Longhorn Network when Ricky Williams was a Freshman wearing number 11 and it had the Longhorn Logo over the state of Texas. That should give people a time frame if they want to see if they can find a video of when Texas had their logo over the state of Texas. However, I really don't care about any other school other than North Texas. I just watched for a few minutes to see how many players on the two teams went on to successful NFL careers.
  17. Thanks for the pictures. Now I know what they were wearing on the sides of the helmets. I used to see that around Denton when I was a kid.
  18. Great shot, but I really wanted to know what North Texas had on the side of their helmets.
  19. I noticed someone is down voting Draper receiving a scholarship. At least come on the board and tell us why. Maybe you think it would be better spent somewhere else. Do tell. I, for one, think he earned it.
  20. So, I was reading the article about Mason Fine and could he throw for 5000 yards when I noticed this article about Throwback Thursday and it featured Houston at North Texas in 1975. I was about 6 when this game was played and my only care in the world back then was playing outside and getting dirty. It was interesting to watch that film. I can't remember the last time I ever saw a receiver get in a 3 point stance. North Texas ran the I formation, the veer, the wing-T and other formations. Haven't seen those in years. What was most hysterical was seeing that Houston Cougar mascot. I bet they are glad that is gone. Haha. Can someone who was old enough to remember Mean Green football that year tell me what they have on the sides of their helmets? I cannot tell because there are really no closeups. https://swcroundup.com/news/2018/5/31/throwback-thursday-1975-houston-at-north-texas
