  1. I'd like to add, in addition to the "Mean Greeeeeen FIRST DOWN" that should be brought back.... The band should ONLY and ALWAYS play "North Texas Fight" on 3rd Downs. Under the previous band director, this was always played on 3rd downs and everyone knew exactly what to do... Now, sometimes it's played on 3rd downs, and sometimes on 2nd, and sometimes just whenever. Additionally, it was great knowing that whenever you are in the stadium, if you heard "North Texas Fight", you KNEW it was a 3rd down.
  2. I definitely agree w/ the flex scheduling option. Create a larger conference, maybe have your first 6 or 8 games be hard-scheduled, then go with a soft-schedule that allows the top teams to play each other and improve their strength of schedule. Unfortunately, I haven't heard of this actually being considered in our conference or any G5 conference for that matter.... It would be great to create an alliance between the remaining G5 conferences to have this flex/soft scheduling.
  3. Didn't you say just a week or so ago that it was looking like Aune was a lock for the starting spot?
  4. Anyone know when the actual depth chart will be released?
  5. UNT had a billboard off Greenville/SMU Blvd a couple years ago. I think the impact it makes on either side is probably a bit overblown.
  6. It wouldn’t surprise me. Think of how much better Mason Fine got his second year compared to his first. And IMO Aune was probably better his first year than Mason, though Mason showed a higher ceiling. Exciting times for sure.
  7. This looks very standard for a locker room renovation. I hope when we do ours we can be a little more unique. Perhaps it would be cool to have something like a giant green chandelier made of emerald stones.
  8. If there are 5 of them it’s not really a monopoly, is it?
  9. The best move, for college football as a whole, is for the B12 to try and stick together and add 4 - 8 strong teams, while the remaining conferences figure out what to do with their remaining members (which includes us, and very likely the rest of CUSA). From there, we may see larger G5 conferences (perhaps it combines to 4 conferences) along with something like flexible scheduling, to try and compete with the P5 conferences for viewership and SOS. This would be the best solution as it would involve the highest number of schools and fans and continue to create college football fans for life. If any information about the SEC taking more than Texas and OU is true, then we can kiss college football as we know it, and the NCAA goodbye. At that point, the SEC essentially becomes a 3rd tier sports league behind the NFL and NBA, and absolutely becomes an NFL-lite, which will generate more money and viewership than the rest of college football (combined) and any other league like the XFL when it comes back. As it stands right now, we are most definitely on the outside looking in (so is SMU, and quite frankly, many P5 schools). And the best we can hope for, I think, is for existing conferences to stay in tact, reload, "expand" the total number of schools in P5 conferences, and hopefully have some reorganization and realignment at lower conferences to try and compete as strong as possible. Unfortunately, I'm not optimistic about any of this, and I think we're essentially seeing a larger breakup of college football than we've seen in the past, and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
  10. I completely agree. Both hand dryers and towels should be an option everywhere. This is especially true at Apogee in the colder months. It would be nice to actually get my hands dry with a towel before exposing them to the cold outside.
  11. Is the UNT vs Rice game on TV? My app says “ESPN CE” which I have never heard of.
  12. Perhaps the drills they run in practice aren't close enough to in-game situations. Therefore you can have someone that practices well and performs poorly in games, or practices poorly and performs well in games.
  13. I'm fairly certain the coaches are putting out the guys that give us the best chance to win. There would be no reason not to, especially considering everyone's eligibility is preserved this year. I seem to recall there was a situation a few years ago in regards to the Quarterbacks on the team.... People wanted other, younger or transfer players to play meaningful snaps, and when the coaches finally gave in after desperation, everyone realized why they hadn't seen the field yet. Point is: The depth chart shakes out the way it does, 98% of the time due to on-field performance.
  14. Benford is much, much worse than Seth. Benford completely flushed the program down the toilet while Seth has at least had some success here. I remember as a student I was so hyped going into Benford’s first year as head coach. It was immediately apparent how bad he was. I somehow watched almost every home game that first year, but haven’t been back to watch a BB game since. That’s how much damage Benford did.
  15. We had how many false start penalties on offense? 5?
  16. Blue shirt means he's sitting this season, and enrolling in the spring, correct?
  17. I think a better way to look at it is a count of total male athletes compared to the count of total female athletes. Because all athletes on the football team (100ish people) are all male, you need more women sports (I.e. women athletes) to match the number of men on the football team.
  18. I completely agree w/ going back to the 3rd down chant. It was a great way to get loud on 3rd and 4th down. Now I feel as though less people yell on 3rd down.
  19. What’s the point of this post? To tell a fired coach “I told you so”?
  20. Interestingly, I talked with a former NT coach a couple weeks ago and he mentioned exactly this scenario. We were talking about how we expected the UNT-SMU game to be much closer than it was. He drew parallels between how after June Jones thought he was going to Arizona he was no longer fully invested and believes the same thing is going on with Seth Littrell after K-State.
