  1. I plan to be fully set up with my tailgate at 1pm.
  2. Poorly designed website. No navigation?
  3. Looking at when this guy was co-defensive coordinator at Indiana, his teams regularly gave up 35+ points. Why is everyone so high on this guy? Just because of the schools he has coached at?
  4. There is a time/place for RV's firing. The timing isn't right. Consider waiting until after we've hired a coach, and football season is over. Until then, the money is wasted.
  5. There is a right time and a wrong time to fire an athletic director. Right now is not the right time. Rick did exactly what everyone wanted him to do, he fired Dan McCarney. What is he to do next, fire himself? And why are people upset about the President not saying anything publicly? Is it your reasonable expectation that President Smatresk reply to your email explaining that he is about to fire Rick? Are you people out of your mind? Here's the deal: Dan McCarney is gone. We need a new coach. The athletic director hires the coach. If Ricky V. were to be fired it could take up to six months to find a permanent replacement if the university conducts a thorough search for the right person. It would be irresponsible and cause more damage if the University were to take even 2 months to hire a new athletic director then have that new AD immediately hire a new coach. All available time for the new coach to recruit would be lost. It just doesn't make sense. Also keep in mind while we haven't had a lot of good seasons recently, the fact that Rick has been able to not only convince the BOR/presidents that athletics matter, but build us substantial facilities is LIGHT YEARS ahead of any other athletic director in our entire history. It's a dark time in UNT athletics, but firing the athletic director right now would ensure it becomes darker. There is a time and place for everything. Right now is not the time to fire Rick.
  6. I think flyonthewall is probably right. Flying a banner is not going to get RV fired. It doesn't make a lot of sense to fire a coach then fire the AD right after. That throws everything into chaos especially when the window to hire a new coach is very small. Most people that voted in the polls aren't prominent donors to athletics outside of their mean green club membership so by not firing RV, the administration really isn't losing out on any donations. It would also be my speculation that RV and the athletic office, like many other areas of this university are stretched very thin. RV is probably doing the most with his resources. Do I think coaching hires could be better? Probably. But hindsight is always 20/20. RV has done a lot of really good things for the university in a relatively short amount of time when you compare it with our long history. Firing an AD right now would be an odd move. It's unfortunate when people realize they wasted their money donating to this banner.
  7. Our defense certainly has problems, but why can't our receivers catch the ball? I think almost all of Smith's throws have hit them in the hands.
  8. Mac says there isn't such thing as a gamer, so we needn't worry.
  9. I would suggest actually writing mail. The amount of email he gets is insane. He gets far less physical mail and may be more likely to open/read it. At least this is the route I'm taking.
  10. Our offense held the ball for a total of 18 minutes, 10 seconds yesterday, so yes, they probably were tired.
  11. it comes down to a finance equation really. When selling bonds to fund academic buildings and such, you need money to pay interest and the bond principal. That money has to come from somewhere and generally it's a percentage of tuition ("tuition revenue bonds"). You're able to borrow more money now because you have projected increases in enrollment that allow for more money to be collected and eventually paid back to the bond holders. So basically in the end more students = more present and future money while allowing the institution to take care of financial commitments from previous years easier.
  12. Hi everyone, I ran a student organization when I was an undergrad and now that I've graduated, we're having an "alumni and friends (for the organization)" tailgate every home game. I never tailgated when I was an undergrad, so I'm a big new to the scene. I've seen people tailgate in Fouts, the Hill, and the gameday lot by Victory/southeast of Apogee. If you all don't mind helping me out with some of my noobie questions... Where is the best area to tailgate? How does tailgating in the Fouts lot work? (ie do you have to pick a spot next to grass or can you take up/pay for two parking spaces?) Are propane grills allowed? How is alcohol treated? Do you pack everything up before the game? Or is it safe to leave your canopy tent, grill, etc. out? When do you start tailgating, when do you end? Any general tips? We're expecting a decent amount of people for the tailgate (25+ hopefully). Thanks everyone!
  13. So, I know the HOD bowl was a while ago now, but does anyone know if the Athletic Department has any of those helmets for sale still? I always wanted one, but was a student at the time and couldn't afford it... If not, one of these might have to suffice...
  14. don't recall but I remember the agreement was that we paid less because the company got to recycle them and use the proceeds from recycling them.
  15. These jerseys are absolutely garbage. The old uniforms weren't great, but they were surprisingly much more classic than these. These new uniforms will be dated in about 18 days. And what the hell are those stripes on the sleeves? What the heck...
  16. We're actually the sixth largest now passed up by tx state and UTA.
  17. Not trying to call you out, but I've seen several people post this "fact" a few times on this board, and it is incorrect. Only about 50% of the UNT student population lives within Denton County. The other 50% lives outside of Denton County. Here is my source, page 76 of the UNT 2014-2015 Fact Book: https://institutionalresearch.unt.edu/sites/default/files/FactBook-2014-2015.pdf I would still classify UNT as a commuter school, although it's much less of a commuter school than it once was.
  18. The last (only) time we rushed the field at Apogee was after the Indiana win in 2011. I agree there's no home opponents worth rushing the field this year unless one happens to be ranked in the top 25.
  19. Thy also have green lemonade and UNT Diving Eagle bamboo cutting boards. Lots of neat stuff indeed.
  20. There's no student section sign all the students are confused where to sit!!!!!!!!
  21. Why does it take so long to figure out if the Texas A&M transfer can play or not?
  22. Fouts Field parking lot was full when I was walking through about 30 minutes prior to kickoff... I've never seen that before. Yeah, win and they're inside the gates... also a bigger name than FAU probably would have drawn more people in.
  23. As far as I know, ULaLa IS the flagship of the "University of Louisiana" system.
