  1. Where is the fight song and why hasn't it been played?
  2. Well, I hope he's serious. Best case scenario is both Kiffen and Littrell stay in conference for several years to come. I think Liffen is probably interested in proving he can coach at the P5 level again but I'm not sure that's next year. We'll see I suppose.
  3. Hi! I'm working on a project w/ the Athletic Department to measure the effectiveness of the electronic tickets and to predict student attendance for future home games. I understand that in years past, students were able to swipe their ID to enter Fouts field and did not need the pick up a paper ticket. Can anyone confirm this? Can anyone confirm when we started using paper tickets for students? 2011? I know this year is the first year of electronic tickets. Thanks! -Snowy
  4. I haven't read Brett's article yet, but in my opinion games are just too damn long. Driving up from Dallas the game day experience requires 5 - 6 hours, and that's if you DON'T tailgate. This is more an NCAA problem and not a UNT problem. Games should last 3 hours MAX with the very rare game stretching 3hr. 30min.
  5. Not sure what the value add is for becoming a mean green member
  6. Thanks. I'll have to call UNT PD/Denton PD and the Athletic Department to complain Drop off rules for game day was no vehicles on the hill after 2pm and before end of game. Because groups around us had already left clearly they were able to drive up on the hill before game end. Additionally there were no pedestrians and it only takes about 4 minutes to pack up the gear into the car. Yet even though I was already on the hill already to pack up I was forced to turn around.
  7. In addition, Freshmen (and often Sophomores) almost ALWAYS go home during the Labor Day weekend. So, the student side was definitely smaller. I had less freshman come up to my tailgate than in years past.
  8. In my opinion, it was a reasonable crowd considering the opponent and the "gas situation".
  9. Hi, Anyone have any insight as to the rule change this year? I left midway through the fourth quarter to get a start on packing up my tailgating gear. I drive up on the hill and am met by a police officer who says I have to leave and I can't pack up (even though I'm already on the hill). Clearly when you look around all other groups have been able to pack up and leave, so I ask why all the fraternities and sororities have been able to pack up and was met with a response of "you can't be up here". Any response appreciated. I wasn't able to drive up to get my stuff until 10 minutes after the game ended. If you want to encourage tailgating and a fun game atmosphere then reasonable rules need to be made to allow people to pack up and leave. This was not an issue last year.
  10. As a new comer to tailgating (started in 2015...), here are some things I've learned over the past few years: Bring some help. It's difficult to set up/take down a canopy tent by yourself. Bring some beer. Even if you label your event "BYOB", your friends are going to take some of your beer. Just buy a 12-pack of whatever-light and know that it'll go to a good home. Try to outsource some of the fun and games... People always ask me, "What can I bring?", and ocassionally, I'd let them bring some things like water, ice, paper plates, etc. Try to go bigger, getting them more involved. Ask them to bring a Corn Hole set, or a football or frisbee to toss around. Bring chairs. After a couple of beers, everyone wants to sit, but nobody thinks to bring their own chair. I bring about 4-5 with me every tailgate... Academy has $5 chairs right now that are OKAY quality. You can spend more if you want, but at the end of the day, they're only going to be used a few times per year. Get their somewhat early, but don't expect everyone else to. For a 6pm kick off, I'll get to The Hill around noon. However, most people don't show up until 1-3 hours prior to kickoff. I wish more people showed up earlier, but that's just the way it is... BBQ chicken legs and roasted corn are a great cheap food for tailgating that everyone loves Good luck and have fun! We need more tailgaters out here!
  11. Need the battle flag as a "military patch" on the shoulder of our uniform, flying w/the wind.
  12. Where can one park for the spring game?
  13. I actually think this is kind of cool. I presume the sushi place will support the mean green in some way (specials, away game watching party, etc) and we could use more business that support UNT.
  14. A creative director, and really an entire overhaul of whoever is responsible for anything digital or print is DESPERATELY needed. I could point to a hundred examples. In fact if the athletic department just put in requests with URCM they would immediately have better talent.
  15. Would look a lot better w/ green chrome and silver eagle imo.
  16. This is definitely a concern I have as well. What generator do you have?
  17. Why not fry? Grilled wings DO sound easier, but I have a personal belief that wings should only be fried. (Definitely NOT baked. Grilled could be interesting.)
  18. Has anyone ever done wings at your tailgate? If so, how did you handle the grease/hot oil? Any other challenges/issues you come across?
  19. Will be making BBQ chicken, roasted corn, probably some sausage too. Looking forward to it!
