  1. No, it's nothing new. But it might help if Mean Green Nation makes its presence known civilly but plainly in the comments section. http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/college-sports/headlines/20140717-incoming-talent-which-freshmen-might-make-quick-impact-for-texas-tcu-tech-am-ou-baylor-smu.ece

  4. Stupidest statement by a coach in 2014. The P5 " mythical" national championship between 4 picked teams is a farce made for TV. If the BB FINAL FOUR had only picked 4 teams which of the ones that made it would have been there with the exception of Florida? Unless you decide a champion on the field among 16 teams with all 1-A conference champions represented and the remainder being from the highest ranked BCS teams this farce is only minutely better than the previous " National Championship".

  5. They only put a few seats up for sale on ticketmaster. Check the FAU or FIU games to see how few they put up. Ticketmaster is not a good indicator.

  6. It's deliberate. Someone at the helm is making this decision.

  7. Don't let up on the comments and emails to DMN for leaving them out. Someone high up with connections needs to call them out for this continued behavior. Leaving out UNT is SOMEONES decision.

  16. I have it on good authority that the student/young alumni side will have Stones, High Life, and Natty Light. The alumni side will have Shiner, the usuals, Michelob Ultra and Metamucil. Ha Ha, love the negative vote on the Talon comment. Are they even still around other than the cannon crew?

  17. Pres. Obama would do good to watch this and learn from it. I would hope he takes a similiar tact when (actually, if) he addresses the nation on this matter in a couple of days. "Massacre". "Crime against humanity". "No justification, legal or moral, for what the soviets did" "this was the Soviet Union against the world" "act of barbarism born of a society which wantonly disregards individual rights and the value of human life" "they owe the world an apology" True then, and true now. Pres. Obama should memorize and re-issue this speech. He won't, because he doesn't want to provoke Putin. Worst foreign policy president since Jimmy Carter.

  18. Heck, there are some things I prefer about Apogee. For example: 1. I prefer the all concrete support structure. Steel supports are perfectly fine, but if we had the budget, I would have preferred concrete. 2. I prefer how close to the field the first row of seats are at Apogee. At the 50 yard line, the first row at Houston is probably 10-15 feet further away from the sideline than Apogee. 3. I prefer Apogee's LEED platinum certification, and the incorporation of the windmills for power needs. 4. I prefer that Apogee was built right next to the interstate. We looked at an interstate location, but ruled it out due to space constraints and infrastructure expense. Certain differences were dictated by needs and location. For example: 1. North Texas apparently needed banquet space. And so a large portion of the club is a dedicated to that banquet room with all the windows. It looks very nice, but we already had banquet facilities. Our club level will look totally different. Much more of an upscale bar feel. 2. The UH stadium is located 3 miles from downtown Houston right in the middle of campus. North Texas is located in a smaller town. The settings and views, not to mention the parking situation, are completely different. Simply due to stadium placement, we have 3800 parking spots within 250 yards of the stadium. The land chosen by UNT for Apogee apparently doesn't lend itself to that kind of parking access. Certain differences were design choices that aren't "right" or "wrong" but will evoke opinons based on personal preference: 1. Placement of premium seats; 2. Horseshoe vs. bowl 3. Open concourses vs. vomitories. We each have our controversial bits: 1. The mesh skin exterior at UH; 2. The winged end zone at North Texas. Certain things are very similar: 1. Lots of concessions and restrooms; 2. TV monitors at every concession stand; 3. Wide concourses; 4. Lots of leg room between rows; 5. Lower seating below grade; 6. Field turf, etc. And certain things are just grander at the Houston stadium, which you would expect given the price difference: 1. The video board is twice as big; 2. The club seats are padded; 3. We have five times as many chairback seating options including loge boxes, party decks and suite decks; 4. We incorporated our marching band facilities into the football stadium. As I said originally, I really like Apogee Stadium. I think y'all did a terrific job with it. And there are certain things about it that I prefer over our stadium. Would I trade stadiums with you? Nope. But then I am biased, and I would expect UNT fans to decline a trade based on bias too.

  19. Was looking at the roster & noticed some new names: AJ Ezzard, RB from Southlake Carroll Cedric Fernandes, DB from Arlington Martin Stephen Gehringer, DL from Deer Park & Midwestern State Cannon Maki, FB from FW All Saints Anyone have any knowledge on any of these players?

  20. Wow. You are so profoundly wise. People are sick of the perception of the douchebags at places like the DMN. That's why they are pissed off. I seriously doubt anyone read this on a piece of paper either. If you think newspapers aren't dying off then you live in a bubble.

  24. Scrolled through the entire college sports "headlines" section and didn't find a single write-up on UNT. That's just strange. I've always thought/known the DMN to be better rag, overall, than the Houston Chronicle (which isn't saying much) but to the Chron's credit, their sports section not only covers the UT/A&M/RICE/UH stuff, but also lends space to HBU, Lamar, SHSU and SFA. This is embarrassing. For us and for the DMN.

  25. Yep. Blocking out and defense has always been the #1 cause of fights. Absolutely no reason for that kid to play a down, certainly for this year. Coach Bro already selling his soul.

  26. Surely the conference won't go O-fer the first two weeks. Almost sure wins: Old Dominion over Hampton, Marshall over Miami (OH), MTSU over Savannah State, FIU over Wagner Probable wins: FIU over Bethune Cookman, UTEP over UNM, UNT over SMU, Southern Miss over Alcorn State Good shots: WKU over Bowling Green

  37. We have to win this game because we simply have a better football team. We will be favored on the 6th. If SMU wins this game it will be an upset. That's why we have to win.

  39. Great job as always, Greg. I have some questions about the depth chart. Very interesting that you had Wade ahead of Warner at FS. I'm sure health played a lot into that decision for you. You had Whitfield behind Jones, which he's probably our first corner off the bench regardless of side, but Whitfield has been short side of the field corner where Buyers is, while Chad Davis is on the short side behind Jones. On the d-line you had Moore behind Orr at nose, and Tauaalo behind Lincoln at 3-tech. Moore was listed behind Lincoln at the 3-tech coming out of spring and he's more of a penetrator than a block-eater at 252 lbs, so I'd think Tauaalo is more fitting at nose behind Orr. On offense you had Harris outside and Kidsy in the slot. Is that more opinion of where you think they should be or has there been a position change? Because it was the other way coming out of spring. Also, I'm interested to see if this late JUCO signee Darren Dennuci starts at right tackle and they move Lemon back inside. McKinney looks solid, so we're good either way, but you usually don't sign a 23 year-old JUCO kid to develop. So I'm sure he'll be given a shot. If Greer starts at qb and can keep his interceptions down to 7 like you project, that would be great news for us going forward. Anyways, I don't get to talk in-depth about our roster like this very often, even on here. So it's cool to see other views and outlooks on our roster.

  40. Lucky for the DFW fans they have the option of showing up in person.

  41. From the story on CBS 11 Wait. What? Seriously? So why the delay? I've heard so many Denton County Sheriff this, TABC that, against state law here, etc. So what it really boiled down to for three years was, "Because think of the children?"
    1 point
  42. Totally agreed. At least they are showing up and drinking. Same for the sorority girls. Everybody talks about UNT hitting 40,000 students soon and people on here give the Greeks crap about their attendance. How about the mass numbers of lazy ass students who don't show? Same goes for the population of Denton or alumni. Y'all need to stop giving fraternities sh$t for showing up.

  43. All that hate. Let them have their fun. Amazing how that 100 people on the Hill piss people off more than the thousand in their dorm or the hundred thousand that live in Denton.

  47. Best thing to happen to real education in Texas. Mudiay couldn't qualify because Prime Prep is nothing but an athletic factory. I feel sorry for the kids who are taken advantage of by this "school."
