SOUTHLAKE, Texas – The North Texas soccer team kept its unbeaten spring season in tact with a 1-1 tie against the Texas Longhorns at Southlake’s Dragon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Karla Pineda put the Mean Green on the board in the 29th minute when she finished a feed from Rachel Holden, the C-USA Freshman and Offensive Player of the Year. North Texas went into the break with a 1-0 lead, but Texas responded five minutes into the second half with a goal from Jasmine Hart.

“I loved the way my team competed today against one of the better teams from the Big 12,” said North Texas head coach John Hedlund. “Even though the game ended in a 1-1 draw the atmosphere was incredible. Fans witnessed end-to-end action throughout the game with both keepers coming up with some really big saves.”

With the tie, North Texas is not only 2-0-1 in the 2014 spring season, but owns a 1-0-1 record against the Big 12. The Mean Green took down Oklahoma, 2-1, last month in Denton. NT also took down Liverpool Dallas of the WPSL, 8-0, on Wednesday.
