20th ranked overall prospect in the state according to Texas Hoops/Rivals (Jan. 2011)

Former Dallas Morning News writer and current Rivals/Texas Hoops analyst Damon Sayles identified Reed as a "rising star/player to watch" based on Reed's performance during the summer of 2010.

Rivals lists 13 interested schools, with offers from TCU, Wichita State, and UTA. Additional interest from 3 BCS schools (Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Colorado) and 1 other Sun Belt school (Western Kentucky) (April 2011)
