Those of you who are into collections, you won't see many of these. I was given this ball by Linda Rawlins after participating in a sideline seminar. Check it out, it is an interesting item.

That's #19 Bron Beal's signature at the very front. He was the starting QB that season but broke his ankle early in the first game against Oklahoma. In stepped TRUE FRESHMAN Scott Davis, who led North Texas to 14 points in a wipe out loss to the Sooners that day, 69-14.

But a legend was born and not all was lost as North Texas went on to win 7 games, including a 10-5 win over Louisiana Tech that season. The Mean Green fell 2 points short of a conference title at the end of the season against Louisiana Monroe.

Unfortunately for us, we drew ULM again for the first round game in the 1-AA playoffs and lost to them a second time. 5 weeks later, Stan "The Man" Humphrey's QBed ULM to a National Championship.

The exciting nature of Corky Nelson's strategy on offense was that you never knew what was coming at you. In reference to Scott Davis: Nelson's offense was such that, inspite of our undersized 1-AA team, Davis threw for over 400 yards against Texas in one game, and rushed for over 200 yards against SMU in another.
