Softball Assistant Gwyn to Coach at Team USA Camp

Recommended Posts

OKLAHOMA CITY – UNT softball assistant coach Jason Gwyn has been invited to be a coach at the U.S. Women’s Fast Pitch Camp on June 13-15 at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Fla.

“I am excited for the invitation to Team USA training camp,” Gwyn said. “It will be a great opportunity to spend three days around some of the best players and coaches in the game.”

The camp will be a showcase for 28 current and former NCAA student athletes prior to selections for the U.S. Women’s National Team. The list of invitees is highlighted by numerous all-American selections along with national player of the year winners Jocelyn Alo (Oklahoma) and Valerie Cagle (Clemson). USA Softball notes that the list of attendees is based on availability and subject to change.

Alongside a group of six coaches, Gwyn will help lead the camp in positional drills and simulated games. Players will compete as the USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Committee watches on before it chooses two national-team rosters for competitions in Japan and Chile later this year.

Gwyn was added to the USA Softball Women’s National Team coaching pool in March which makes him eligible to be selected as a coach for a U.S. Women’s National Team roster.

Gwyn was hired by North Texas head coach Rodney DeLong on September 10, 2021, after most recently serving as the head coach at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas.
