  1. Here are some good reasons to go: 2 or more years lettered coming into this season: 5 - Andrew McNulty, 8 - Jamal Marshall, 9 - Carlos Harris, 18 - Marcus Smith, 22 - Antoinne Jimmerson, 24 - Zac Whitfield (grad), 42 - Chad Polk, 65 - Micah Thompson, 91 - Austin Orr , and 31 - Kenny Buyers (can he / will he return for one more year?) and a few other seniors playing their last game
  2. We all did because I don't think one was sent out. I only found out by asking.
  3. Dessert menu for next Saturday: Pies: pumpkin, pecan, coconut cream, and Dutch apple warm cranberry pear gingerbread chocolate silk pie Buffet is prime rib, quiche lorain, and various sides (would have been chicken sausage gumbo instead of quiche if an evening game - that would have been good) 2:30 kickoff / 1:30 buffet OK, so maybe a few hundred club seaters will show up, but most of their seats will be empty!
  4. Except for a bowl game, there were ten games per season through the 1960's.
  5. A question I have heard, but not on this site .... How much was Mac impacted by the stroke he suffered before the 2014 season? Yes, I get the recruiting and possibly not seeing any QB's except McNulty, but was the stroke a factor?
  6. Good drive on UNT first possession until it stalled close to 25 yard line and Moore missed 42 yard attempt. That miss may have been the defining moment for this one. Instead of 7-7 or 7-3, it is now 21-0. UNT on MUTS 18 as I type this. T O U C H D O W N 21-7
  7. NESN, channel 97 on FIOS, but requires subscription.
  8. What could have possibly been worse than our Homecoming loss to Portland State?
  9. Room opens at 6:00. Just snacks tonight. Don't get too excited.
  10. Let's go for a package with receiver wearing #19 and possibly the RB wearing #34.
  11. Free parking would have to be either the south half of the Red / Blue lots or at Fouts. There are season ticket holders with assigned parking in the white, green, and black lots; and most of those are showing up.
  12. The bowl game was big deal to a lot of folks who otherwise would not go to a football game. On January 1, 2014, I noticed a few well-known people from Denton and Denton County who I have never seen at Apogee. It was probably just a status thing for some folks who are not true fans like many of us who show up at every game. And yes, I suspect there were a lot of Dallas area alumni who have not made the trip to Denton recently. We need a better team and then perhaps we will see some of the outsiders become true fans.
  13. Try 1-2, losses were Thursday night against WKU four days after being named interim coach and then 9 days later at Marshall.
  14. Fully agree with your post Harry. I am reminded of the "sleeping giant" tag put on us a couple of years ago.
  15. Has anyone researched the number of offers versus available scholarships by P5 schools? Ditto for UNT and other C-USA schools? Does UNT tend not to extend offers to athletes with several P5 offers in hand. Looking at it differently, does UNT avoid making more offers than the number of available scholarships by skipping athletes likely to go elsewhere? If so, is that a key factor in missing good prospects?
  16. Even in the SMU game, and every game since, defense missed a lot of open field tackles.
  17. Seeing some comments on other threads about folks changing their minds and deciding to attend on Thursday. Anybody who cares about UNT football and who is close enough to make it to Denton should be there to support the team.
  18. With so many families in the wing, just under 20 thousand seems right. From club seats, I could see a lot of Greek organizations stayed on the hill during the game. Once our first possession of the second half didn't go anywhere with McNulty still at QB, we left. As we were on the service road approaching NT Blvd., we saw several hundred people in a huge tailgate event from which it appears that none went to the game. Suddenly, Thursday night looks interesting. Hard to expect a win against WKU, but will be interesting to see if Canales can have the same impact that he did when he replaced Dodge. With a very short week to get ready, can he unlock the handcuffs that former coach Mac had on the offense?
  19. "Sad and I'm hurting" pretty much explains the feelings than were felt in most of the posts on this thread. Yes, UNT losses on the turf and the basketball floor hurt, but we have a lot to be proud of. The history is what it is, and nothing here is going to change that. Yes, I am as frustrated as any of you and I think some changes are needed. Our concerns have been noted in Bret's blog this week, and are no secret. Let's criticize constructively when we can, but otherwise do what we can to support our athletes.
  20. While in eighth grade in Lubbock, where we lived 1956-1959, I went to my first college game - Oregon State at Tech. (Remembering the opponent, I looked it up - the date was 9-26-59.) We moved to Richardson a couple of months later, so I think it was 1960 that Tom Harpool invited my dad and me to a game at Fouts. I would have been in 9th grade. I cannot remember who we played. As a 5-year student, I went to EVERY home game from my freshman year 1964 through 1968 season. Each of my last three years, 1966 through 1968 season, I also went to one game out of town - to Tulsa, Memphis, and Little Rock (vs Arkansas). Living in Dallas and later Richardson after graduation, I lost interest as the team went down to the lower level; but did take in a game or two at Texas Stadium. I was a Dallas Cowboy season ticket holder from 1971 (1st year in Texas Stadium) through 1989, but refused to buy tickets after Jones bought the club. When my company relocated from Dallas County to Lewisville, we bought a home in Flower Mound (12-30-05) to avoid 26 miles each way on LBJ. That gave us easier access to Denton, and we became football season ticket holders by 2008. We have continued that since. I attend every home game, except the October game last year on the same day my niece got married in Houston. Like most on this board, I am frustrated with the lack of BOR commitment to field winning teams in the major sports, but am proud of the academic goals and achievements of our athletes. That keeps me motivated through those down seasons, but I wish we could develop a winning tradition such as I experienced from 1966 through 1968.
  21. The new Spiriki category is not even listed.
