  1. Attendant at entrance to black lot off service did not want parking stub. Gates on west side were slow to open while it was raining, and with only two gates and perhaps some issues with scanners in the rain, we finally walked around to front gates. I though attendance was close to 20,000 during the first half, but close to 90% of students started the exodus shortly after halftime. If not for the daytime sun and heat, perhaps more would have stayed.
  2. Two defensive letdowns glare out at me - missed open field tackles and not getting any take-a-ways.
  3. Optimist view: Wins against Portland State, UTEP, and UTSA.
  4. I also noticed our cheerleaders raising the MAKE NOISE signs when we had the ball and right in front of us. Could not believe what I was seeing.
  5. Last night I thought low to mid 20's with at least 40% UNT. Official attendance was posted just over 25 thousand. Assuming 40% or better is reasonable, we had ten thousand or more UNT fans there. I was in section 122, which for this year is the last visitor section going clockwise. The sections for public sale between 122 and the SMU student section appeared to be solid green. Looking onto the sun for most of the game, I could see the home side had a lot of SMU fans, but could not tell how full it was since the seats are red or blue. In any case, a great turnout for UNT.
  6. Per Rick last night, Northern Arizona was scheduled, but backed out.
  7. Mine were postmarked Monday and received today in Flower Mound. Section 122, row 15. Just checked SMU site and see that stadium seating allotment was changed from what I saw earlier. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/smu/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2015-16/misc_non_event/2015-FootballSeatingChart2.pdf
  8. I heard at one time that any significant renovation would require adding hand rails for the steps, but the current aisles are not wide enough for that. Seems like the solution would be taking at least one column of seats out of each section. I agree with the comments about converting the current press area to seats. I am in the first row of seats behind the floor seats. Those are folding chairs instead of stadium seats. That area is rarely more than half full, and it seems that most folks sitting there are one-time or occasional guests - not season ticket holders. Put the media there on the same side as the TV cameras and add a row or two of nicer seats for those who want to pay for that. I agree on the need for ticket windows, but reconfigure the entrances so that ticket buyers can line up INSIDE the building. And yes, let there be light!
  9. That is what I sent to Vito. UNT is better, but so is the conference. Have to be much better than expected to beat 7-5 when facing several strong teams on the road. Getting to 6-6 requires a Texas sweep plus wins over SouthMiss and Portland State. Any other scenario for 6-6 or better includes a nice upset on the road. Get some of that koolaid in the concession stands at Apogee and watch our attendance soar.
  10. Portland State because of Homecoming. Rice if we beat SMU AND daytime temperature is relatively mild. WKU on a Thursday night is tough for alumni outside of Denton. UTSA on Halloween should be in top three attendance if promoted and team is playing well. UTEP on Thanksgiving weekend with many students gone will be tough draw, unless a championship is on the line. What we really need is for C-USA to break the year-to-year pattern that has Texas opponents all away or all home.
  11. I see very few schedule conflicts with the WBB schedule, so I may do that. Mark, are your WBB seats in same section as your MBB seats?
  12. Somebody on another thread stated that 9:30 is last return departure from Mockingbird that will get you home in time. If so, that is risky.
  13. I have several conflicts with the C-USA portion of the MBB schedule, and may not get season tickets this year unless they put together a package that allows us to combine MBB and WBB games in one package. And yes, I have made that suggestion to athletic staff members.
  14. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-baskbl/sched/ntex-w-baskbl-sched.html Home schedule starts with TWU, but also includes San Francisco, Arizona, and SMU.
  15. Two lanes each direction from FM407 to FM2181, with only two traffic lights that I can think of. Watch the 40/45 speed limits. Ridiculously low (TXDOT recommended 50) for political and revenue reasons. The stretch of FM2181 (Teasley) going north from Guyer to where it turns west is 50 mph, but only one lane each direction with numerous stops and no opportunity to pass slower cars. Tough on weekday evening basketball, but not really an issue for Saturday football. Construction has already started to extend FM2499 to I35, coming out where State School Road is now.
  16. From Flower Mound, and this also works for Lewisville and Highland Village, I take FM 2499 up to FM2181, which becomes Teasley. Just catch the part of 35 between Teasley and Bonnie Brae. Once construction on FM 2499 in front of Grapevine Mills is done, that becomes a great option off LBJ just north of the airport.
  17. Assuming 4 home and 4 away for C-USA, that is SIX home games each year from 2016 to at least 2019.
  18. In the 1968 yearbook, covering the 1967 season, "They produced all of this, and they produced a name, the "Mean Green." Whether it was just a name or perhaps a following, it was one by which they were known and respected. The North Texas Green of 1967 was indeed Mean." There is no reference to Joe Greene in that article. But in the '69 Yucca, covering the '68 season, a whole page a dedicated to Joe Greene as he became the first All American from North Texas. One paragraph in the middle of that page reads as follows: "Greene, who is responsible for the Eagles' now famous name of Mean Green, has spent his three varsity years at NT playing defensive tackle, a position from which he has terrified and demoralized opposing quarterbacks week after week." Interestingly, it went on mention that he played linebacker and offensive tackle in high school and as a freshman at NT. Since there is no linkage of Mean Green to Joe Greene in the '68 yearbook, I question the accuracy of the implied linkage in the '69 yearbook. In the '67 yearbook, covering the '66 season, Joe Greene was pictured as one of seven all-conference players, but there was no mention of Mean Green. One thing we know - that nickname game during the 1967 season when they were MVC champions.
  19. Just about any team from American Athletic, Mid-American, or Mountain West.
  20. Not sure when cut-off is, but all orders will be assigned seats and tickets distributed based on MGC priority points. I heard that when I ordered mine on Monday.
  21. Got my parking passes in same black lot spot I had last year. Jessica's replacement is Laura Nichols 940-369-8916. Parking priority is based on priority points - based on several factors including season ticket renewals, stadium contribution, MGC contribution levels and increases, etc. Same points are used to allocate UNT tickets to out-of-town games and bowl games. Ha Ha, but look again. They included a parking pass for C-USA championship game, assuming it is played at Apogee.
  22. The regents want the space now occupied by Fouts. If nothing else, that should motivate them to pass this.
  23. I got my SMU game and tailgate tickets at Apogee yesterday (Monday) morning. Ignore the SMU seating chart as that is not what they are using for this game. The $35 tickets bought through the ticket office will be in the lower decks, approximately sections 117-118 over to 121-122, and the UNT students will be in the upper sections of the same area. Seating will be assigned and tickets sent out by MGC priority number once orders are closed. I saw a post elsewhere that 20-25 student busses are going. The number told me yesterday was much higher with 52 passengers per bus. The tailgate is $20 in advance for MGC members, and will include music and barbecue. Two locations are currently under consideration, including one near the parking lot designated for UNT just south of University Drive. In response to another comment on a different thread, I noticed a small stock of the straw hats with a UNT ribbon for sale in the store. Got my season tickets via UPS/USPS today. Parking passes include one for C-USA championship game if played at Apogee. Thinking we sometimes get what we wish for, I would love to see some more positive thinking such as that on this board.
  24. Not in my mail today (Saturday) in Flower Mound, but the monthly Cross Timbers Gazette arrived with a well-positioned (top of first page in second section) article on the Apogee home field advantage. It finished on page 18 where there is a half-page ad for Mean Green season tickets. This paper is mailed free to people in 9 communities or towns from Robson Ranch south and east through Flower Mound. Great marketing in what should be prime territory for us.
  25. Was this scholarship available due to departure of Brian Ochs?
