overall observations... - figured Scott would have a bounce back and he was great - I hate that we only get one year of Robert Allen - I love Rondel Walker's stat lines...like every game. does anyone know a site that gives +/- for the college game? - I love that Buggs got off 7 shots. - Hodge definitely has a firm grip on the hand-break, but glad to see Moore getting some bullpen minutes and yes...fair play to Stone. I think someone must've finally showed him tape of all the looks he immediately deferred on and said these have to go up. the first as a lil off the bounce rock back, too...that was damn pretty. if he's gonna play he can't be a passenger...tonight is all I ask of him10 points

https://starlocalmedia.com/news/state/unt-lands-highly-productive-byron-nelson-qb-tom-von-grote-as-a-preferred-walk-on/article_e19d9d21-7800-5776-a85c-d36c0f357ed3.html Tom von Grote waited his turn for years while backing up one of the top quarterbacks in the Dallas area at Byron Nelson. That patience paid off last season when he emerged as a college prospect and caught the attention of the staff at North Texas.7 points

Sorry, @CMJ but the Mean Green are now 2-0 when I start the game thread this year. Huge that we're not trying to break a losing streak at SMU.6 points

Forney DL Tristan Bennett is a new add. Maybe a walk-on but he was very productive at Forney. Nicknamed Tank Bennett. 1st Team all district at 6'00" 250. Forney went to the state semi finals this past season and their defense was a huge part of it.5 points

It's honestly ridiculous at this point. We should have won by 20+ were it not for the curse of the black jerseys. We ended up winning by only 13. Damn shame.5 points

He is probably the one who has been hiding the mops from the floor staff all this time.5 points

We need this game, both to stop the 3 game skid and to get some confidence back heading into a gauntlet of SMU, Memphis and UAB in our next three.5 points

It should tell us something when Stone hitting a shot requires an exclamation point 😆5 points

What is the deal with the officiating in the second half? Some of these calls are ridiculous including that last one on Buggs.4 points

maybe not...but given the slide we were on, it's still a much needed win. Memphis had lost 3 straight...and then went on to lose to Rice (and barely beat WSU). a bounce-back win at least tells us the bottom isn't completely falling out.3 points

Just to update, it seems like he is OK. On another note, I thought AScott bounced back well. Scored and did AScott things again. This is not to take anything away from the guys at all, but I will say that Tulsa is not a good team. I think we beat them by what I would expect. They missed a lot of good shots because of our defense, but also because they are just not that good.3 points

I just saw this... if you're going to do a blue night, shouldn't your team be wearing blue jerseys?3 points
-
Well I wore my green underpants to the USF game the other night and we lost for the first time with me in green underpants, so I don't know what the hell is going on...3 points

And again, a reminder to get your asses to Moody Coliseum this Sunday... not like you gotta prepare for the Cowboys playing in the Super Bowl or anything!! We have a group of about 40 now. SMU won't open up anymore lower level seating to expand our group, so SeatGeek may be able to get you a better deal. Otherwise, expanding our group into the upper level will range from $15-$50 a seat, and I am glad to help anyone with that.3 points

He's not someone who ever shoots often, but he's not a bad shooter. He just seems scared to actually put it up.3 points

Kid has a nice stroke. He usually shoots from the corner. Looks like he should have been shooting from the top of the key. Really hope he has a good second half.3 points

I just don't think this is the banger "I told you so" you think it is. This team is pretty good with our full lineup, and can compete for first place. Now, if you are hanging your hat on saying "we have injury prone players", then congrats I guess.3 points

They don't do average class ratings on ESPN unless I just can't find it. Class breakdowns: UNT 30 Commits, 26 3-star recruits San Diego State 27 commits, 16 3-star recruits Baylor 16 commits, 13 3-star recruits Memphis 34 commits, 19 3-star recruits Arizona 17 commits, 1 4-star, 10 3-star recruits UCLA 10 commits, 2 4-star, 8 3-star recruits Your argument certainly stands for UCLA who has a very small HS class. Arizona's is smaller than traditional 25 recruit classes but their 3 star ratio is not very good. Baylor is smaller than traditional as well, 3 star ratio is better. Memphis and SDSU have the numbers but not the stars. Again, all per ESPN but ours is stacking up just fine.3 points

@UNTLifer Just like most HS recruits. Very few show up ready to go. He's likely a PWO anyways but he's a young DL with a good frame, good grades, and a good head on his shoulders and he's local.2 points

Back to game talk, I hope Noland is ready to roll. SMU's backcourt is very athletic and we need Noland to help bring the ball up. Rubin would be a plus, but I really want them both ready to roll against Memphis. Outside of one bad pass, I think Moore looked better against Tulsa. He needs to look for his shot when open as well.2 points

They are also a more expensive option for college kids. Get a dedicated train for the game and make the train ride a party. Could you all send a couple of hookers?2 points

They took the last few teams they've played to the wire before losing late. They are a good basketball team in a really tough basketball conference.2 points

I patted our administration on the back, for our home game against the Mustangs. We hyped that game to the MAX and the turnout & results were rewarded. I received countless emails and texts, promoting that game. That said, having bought tickets from SMU, for our football game last season, I've received a couple of emails from them since that game for various events of theirs. I have not received ONE text or ONE email from them about our game at Moody. This game will have a totally different dynamic, than the build up UNT did hosting the Mustangs last month. This game is at lunch time, on Super Bowl Sunday. I wouldn't expect much of a turnout from SMU fans, UNT could easily have 70% of the attendance.2 points

I saw a lot more of Walker taking the ball up and giving Edwards a rest from everything going through him. I thought it was a really nice change up and it allowed Edwards to get open and pick his shots.2 points

I guess you can slam into our guys as they are going for the rebound, but any little bump is a foul.2 points

We are above the schools ranked 71-75 only because our class size is bigger. They all have a higher average player ratings than we do.2 points
