  1. The cool thing about this, is that the University could only afford turf to the 30 yard line. But with Empire's new promotion, we can afford to cover the entire field. Just call 1-800 588-2300 EMPIRE. Today.

  2. It will be nice to not have a single high school coach on the staff.

  3. Confirmed for June 11th is All-Conference lineman with 4 bowl rings as well, #59 Weston Thaggard. Thaggard is a 2X shirt and still has those happy feet he always made useful. If anyone has a cowboy boot they don't mind beer being drank out of you might be able to talk the UNT players to enjoy some good times as they did at the steak pit on Bourbon street as they ran out of cups to serve the beer in! I know of 3 or 4 posted players that drank out of that boot!

  8. Uh, ADMINS?? If you have a North Texas and/or Rangers fan bone in your body, you will remove the desecration that looks like the spankee logo from this website.

  9. A lot of people here act as if UTSA won't be a factor at all when it comes to our situation, but I think they have great potential to really make some significant progress IF everything they are doing right now works out. From an outsider's perspective, this is what I see: 1.)They already have a recognizable facility in the Alamodome, which is attractive to OOC teams because of size. 2.)Their market has appeal. San Antonio is a great tourist city and since it is has no other FBS team, it could lead to good support from the locals IF they win. Not to mention the fact that other teams would love to come here and play against a team that they believe is both beatable and gives them in-roads to Texas HS recruits. If UTSA does find success quickly (not saying they will), I could easily see CUSA coming after them, just to get into a new market that has lots of TV coverage. 3.)They have a name coach in Larry Coker. Granted, he won at Miami with Butch Davis' kids, but he does have a MNC on his resume and the TX HS coaches will have interest in listening to him. He was a good hire for them. 4.)Media coverage for them will be solid. The San Antonio newspaper and other media outlets will cover them closely, much like the El Paso media covers UTEP closely. With no other team in town and not other pro football team to draw away coverage, they will have an advantage that Texas State or North Texas will get. We know that Texas and A&M will always get strong coverage, as they should down there, but UTSA will get solid media coverage just because they are local. I do think that UTSA could be like any of the Florida start-ups of the last 20 years if things fall in line. It will be tough, but I think they have a legitimate shot if their conference stays afloat and stays intact with the same teams already. Like UCF, USF, FAU, and FIU, they have a model to work from and absolutely no history to weigh them down from a fanbase and media perspective. It will certainly be interesting to see how well UNT, Texas State, and UTSA fair over the course of the next ten years. It will go a long way in determining who we will be in a confernece with in the future.

  10. Guys, It's on the website at meangreensports. I mean, what else do you want them to do? Mailing costs more money these days than it used to cost. So, even mailing just MGC members or season ticket holders is talking a lot of cash out. Again, I think these things begin to take care of themselves once more attention is on the program for winning. I suppose they could phone. But, you always have people who are so jacked up about getting phone calls, no call lists, etc. It's not hard to get a no call list, as it's updated weekly...and it's free. But... You'd still have to have live bodies sitting around making the phone calls to the alumni base outside the MGC. That's volunteers if you don't have the money to pay someone to do it. Who are your volunteers? Students, MGC members? I think the athletic department is doing something good here. You get 75 people out. That's better than zero, which is what it was before these things. It'll build. I know we're hungry to win. To be like Texas and OU, who have the luxury of charging people to go to these things. To have UNT actually on the helmets. To have a lively and lengthy post-game show. But, these things take time. They will come now that we've got a good coaching staff in place. The stadium, the coaching staff, the caravan...it's all new and good. Don't be filled with a negative emotion. Try not to hate. Love your mate. Don't suffocate on your own hate. Designate your love as fate. A one world state as human freight. The number eight. A white black state. A gentle trait. The broken crate. A heavy weight. Or, just too late. Like pretty Kate has sex ornate. Now devastate. Appreciate. Depreciate. Fabricate. Emulate. The truth dilate. Special date. The animal we ate. Guilt debate. The edge serrate. A better rate. The youth irate. Deliberate. Fascinate. Deviate. Reinstate. Liberate to moderate. Recreate or detonate. Annihilate. Atomic fate. Mediate. Clear the slate. Activate. Now, radiate. A perfect state. Food on plate. Gravitate. The Earth's own weight. Designate your love as fate. At ninety-eight we all rotate....

  11. i don't know exactly what the membership of mean greem club is , but RICK is right. it is too small of a target audience, and besides, you are preaching to the choir. we need to invite "all interested parties" to expand our fan base. a large number of longhorn fans never went to THE UNIVERSITY, yet support them as if they did. JOE GREENE by himself should be a good draw. we need to think outside the box.

  13. NO excuses for such a lousy turn out. But no one to blame either. It just proves that there are very few (in relation to other state schools) alumni who care about this program. McCarney can change that. But it's going to take some time. Joe Green's appearance alone should've brought in 200.

  16. ATTENTION ATTENTION!!! Breaking News.... I've just got a committment from #81 JOHNNY QUINN. He's excited that he will be able to make it this year and is looking forward to seeing everyone and being apart of this worthy cause. He will by far be the best athlete on the field, as always! This makes that #1 pick pretty crucial now. He is an XL T-Shirt Scott

  17. Performing "Texas, Our Texas" would be great. But I don't believe the lyrics should be modified. I find it incredibly disrespectful when the national anthem is being performed at Dallas Stars games, and when they get to the "whose broad stripes and bright stars" the crowd yells "STARS!!" Likewise at Houston Rockets games at "and the ROCKETS!! red glare." The national anthem is performed as a tribute to our nation, not to celebrate a sports team. If the Green Brigade does "Texas, Our Texas," it needs to be done as a tribute to Texas.

  18. Someday soon, some corporate sponsor should organize a "DFW Invitational Tournament" of sorts with UNT, TCU, SMU, and UTA. Perhaps ESPN would pick it up, and it would be a great showcase for recruiting. Travel expenses for the teams and fans would be minimal, encouraging participation.

  19. There was a quick, 30 second, video from the Dallas Event shown last night on Channel 5 as part of the SportsCast. I was surprised and by the time I knew it was from the Caravan it was over and I'm not even sure what was said during the broadcast. Anyway, at least there was some local news coverage.

  24. Nope - they had the undefeated season on probation in 1994 I believe. They just got plain screwed when there were 3 unbeatens a few years ago.

  25. Yeah...sorry, but there is no way the Green Brigade is the best band in the nation. I'm sure I'll get -1s for this, but no one of this board can say with a straight face that we have the best band.

  26. I must have been watching a different band during the football games because we are no where close to having the best marching band....unless....did we get lumped into the high school category?

  27. LOL! Yeah, there never is! Amazing! Here's an outside the box suggestion. Invite EVERYONE, not just the Mean Green Club????????????? I would even have gone so far as invite the DFW Iowa State Alumni Association as well. There are a lot of them displace here who never get to get back home and you never know how many who truly loved DMac would be interested in season tickets. Rick

  29. 27 world titles. Nuff said. And spare me the "payroll" argument...nobody knocks IBM or Coca Cola for hiring the best and brightest they can. It's a business.
