Florida Atlantic @ Siena

Don't let Siena's 2-6 record fool you...this is a good team and is developing into a very good mid-major program. They've lost 2 overtime games and hung with top 25-35 teams like Butler and Minnesota. Siena lost their top 2 scorers from last year's tournament team, but Ryan Rossiter and Clarence Jackson are legit (both may be 2nd round NBA draft picks).

FAU's win over Hofstra already makes this a satisfying road trip, in my opinion, if they can go 2-0 in the Northeast I'll be elated.

This one has regional TV coverage (Time Warner-NY), so keep an eye on Channelsurfing for a stream.

There's only two NCAA games listed on there at the moment, and one of those is Malone College at Youngstown State. Hopefully FAU at Siena gets added closer to 6:30 central.

So how good is this FAU team? Are they on-par with WKY? Is this the team that may win the east and push UNT for the regular season championship? Looking at how they're playing in OOC, they appear to be the team to beat in the East. WKY is playing a brutal OOC schedule, so it's hard to get a good gague on them, but this FAU team is matching up well with teams that would be challenging for the SBC conf. championship if they were in our conference.

A couple of us thought they might be favorites for the East over the offseason... But I at least backed off from that as the year got closer and gave the nod to WKU.

The scary thing about FAU is that they're winning quality games without really using Ray Taylor. He's practically a bench guy now... He was suspended early for some disciplinary thing and now he's been bumped down to a secondary option. Went from 33 mpg and 14+ points last year as a freshman to just 8 ppg and 25 mpg (5th on the team) through a third of this season.

At this point last year, the two guys who were most deserving of Player of the Year were Billy Humphrey (who tore up his knee) and Ray Taylor. Even as a true freshman only 10 games into his first season, Taylor was tearing things up.

Also, they've got Kore White now, and Royster isn't a one man band in the paint anymore. They can score in the paint, they've still got the defensive POY on the roster, all their freshmen are back and more experienced... And they've got their Josh White sitting back and not even really contributing anything close to what he's capable of doing.

Early success and OOC wins are going to make this a confident team. Pair that with their talent and the complete rotation they have in place, and it could be a very big year for them.

You pretty much summed it up right there. Javis is possibly the best coach in the conference (Jones is up there too, not meant as a slight). I really don't know about WKU. We have some nice talent but we may be too one dimensional since we do not shoot the three well at all. On the other hand I could see us putting it together and going on a tear in conference. Either way, I tend to think that this is FAU's year in the East. They are just sharper and more cohesive at this point. The last couple of years the knock on them has been that they are young although they have recruited nice talent. That's not true so much anymore. They came within a hair of winning the East last year. This year, Jarvis will finish the conquest.
