Key Bench Players -

G. DaShuan Williams (6'3" 200 Sr.) 3.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.5 apg

G/F. Horace McGloster (6'7 205 Soph.) 6.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg

C. Nick Mosely (6'9" 220 Jr.) 2.3 ppg, 2.0 rpg

Coleman and Lewis are both strong and athletic wings...Coleman is a slasher and finisher, he has taken just 1 three pointer thus far, and he missed it. Lewis is the main perimeter threat (14-33, 42%) and in Houston's first four games no less than 60% of his shots have come from behind the arc. Wade is a quick, undersized point guard who will look for the pass first (24 assists, 8 & 9 is his last two games) but is also a capable outside shooter (7-18 from 3, 39%). As a true freshman, he has been surprisingly careful with the ball (5 turnovers...24:5, almost 5:1 assist to TO ratio is pretty damn salty). Cousin is efficient and consistant inside (57% FG, low scoring night - 12; low rebounding night -7)...difficult to tell if he's actually foul prone...he picked up 5 in just 23 minutes vs. Presbyterian, yet he's only gotten 1 in each of their other 3 games...he's servicable at the line for a big man 17-26, 65%). Calhoun is a versitille inside-outside PF who can knock down a three. The bench is really nothing but role players, Williams and McGloster are capable scorers, but if they're beating you something is wrong with your defense

UNT has a decided bench advantage...PG should be an interesting match-up as Wade, White and Johnson are all similar in frame and athleticism...we shouldn't have a problem defending Calhoun on the perimeter with our athletic 4s...Cousin however worries me as he's considerably bigger than Odufuwa...if Howerton can at least frusterate him for 10 minutes, and maybe draw some cheap fouls that would be a big thing for UNT. Defending the wing...make Lewis put it on the floor, make Coleman shoot...not the other way around.

Collin Mangrum dressed tonight. They don't expect him to play, but good to hear his health is returning enough to wear a uniform. Another question many had around here is how we would fare against a true big man. We will find out tonight if Odufuwa can handle their 6'11" 250 center. I wonder if JJ inserts Howerton more frequently to have Howerton rough up....err.... bang around with their center to "soften" him up for George.
