Men's basketball: North Texas signee solid in loss at NJCAA tourney

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — North Texas signee Ben Bell finished with a double-double that included 14 points and 10 rebounds, but he couldn’t prevent San Jacinto from falling to Tallahassee Com-munity College in the first round of the NJCAA Division I Basketball Tournament on Wednesday.

The game was tied at the end of regulation before Tallahassee pulled away for a 73-69 overtime victory.

Bell, a sophomore point guard, is one of five players who will join the Mean Green next season. The class is regarded as one of UNT’s best in recent years.

The Mean Green are coming off of a 14-14 season and a loss to Arkansas-Little Rock in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
