You could try the Horseshoe in Bossier City near the river. I haven't really stayed in Shreveport, so I'm not an expert. There's a couple decent places in Ruston, but they aren't casinos. Plus, they'll mostly be rented out because of Tech fans.

Do they include "out-houses." I know any LaTech fan would love any dive with an outhouse. The stinch would be like Champagne to them! Rip Tech apart!!!!! Go! Mean Green!!!!

ok, this was requested so I will type it in annd hopefully we can find it again when the game gets closer. Prices are average according to TripAdvisor.com, you can certainly find them cheaper... but be advised that unless you have a history with one of the boats there are not many (if any) super deals to be found on the weekends at the boats in Shreveport.

Also, its no Las Vegas... buffets all run $12-18 and a sit down meal at Four Winds (Horseshoe) or Binion's or the other steakhouses can easily cost $50 a plate. There is lots of good dining outside the casinos though.

Start booking soon... the weekends here fill up quick with high rollers and tourists.

Starting south and heading north.

Isle of Capri: The old folks home.... tropical themes... decent seafood... decent boat, kinda small.... this is where Chubby Checker performs when he is in town. $185 Bossier City

Boomtown (Formerly Casino Magic): Southwestern theme... nice rooms... nice bar and grill... great buffet... great steak place... girls in chaps and old west hooker getups... This is where Stebo performs when he comes to town. $177 Bossier City.

Horseshoe: The jewel of the Red... huge boat... nicest rooms.... great shows... Great fine dining (asian and steak) good buffet... This is where Willie Nelson plays when he comes to town. $175 Bossier City.

Hollywood: Touristy... decent food... great boat, huge lots of room and little smoke... never been in the rooms... lots of movie memorabilia... dead center in the casino district in Shreveport where they serve till 6 a.m. This is where the Chip and Dale Dancers and celeb impersonators perform when they are in town. $140 Shreveport.

Sam's Town (formerly Harrah's): Dirty smokey crowded small boat (IMO)... oldest casino on the river... very nice rooms... decent food... Also in the casino district in shreveport. Noone performs here. $164 Shreveport

Hope it helps... will answer any questions.

I agree...the Horseshow would be a great option. I have a client in Shreveport and have stayed there @ 12 weeks in the past year. The Horseshoe is great...good gambling and GREAT food. The buffet is the best I have ever had...and that is including the several I've experienced in Vegas.

How many ppl are planning on coming to this game and staying in shreveport sat night??? If I can start now and get enough commitments I might could get one of the casinos here to give us a group rate or something... I know most of the promotions ppl.

So who plans on coming and how many rooms do you think you woul get?

Also, who would be interesting in getting a box at the Louisiana Downs on the Sunday after the game??

Thanks for all the info. Just got back from a few days in Galveston and just got back on the board. We'll only need one room. I checked on LA Downs, too. I'm disappointed we'll miss the races. Thanks again all. See you in Ruston!

Shane, I am planning to make the trip with Mary (will be Mrs. EagleMBA by then). We'll be looking for one room, sounds like the Horseshoe for us as a first option. I hope we'll generate enough interest to warrant a group deal somewhere. If we're able to consolidate and get a group deal at another casino that's OK; I'll go with the group.

CONGRATS TO YOU TOM!!!

John Denver should learn from your example.

If I can pull it off it would probably be at the Horseshoe... but I hate to call until I know a decent number of ppl are interested.
