I think the more worrisome thought for me is that Littrell is basically coaching for his job at this point, and he decides to hire a guy with zero experience on the DL.

Bennett is obviously a fantastic DC, but hitching your wagon to a guy like that is a huge dice roll that seems like its more than likely destined to hit snake eyes.

I hope to God I'm wrong and Passwaters is the next coming of Bill Belichick, but I'm a pessimist so I'm expecting the worst.

Letting your coordinator pick his position coaches is the norm. Getting in the way of what he wants, even if your job is on the line, has some slippery implications.

I guess, but you are the head coach. Bennett seems to be doing Littrell a favor here, which is fine by me, but letting him dictate what could possibly cost your job? Talk about slippery implications.

I don't worry about this.  I don't believe that Phil will allow his future? son-in-law to fail.  Bennett knows his defensive scheme like the back of his hand and think that he will feed his system to Passwaters night and day during the off-hours.  The defensive line was a key to success at Baylor and will likely be here as well.  Under the circumstances this could be the best possible scenario, especially since the defensive line is likely our strongest defensive unit.

It's certainly encouraging that Passwaters was not a detriment to getting Enoch Jackson on board.    But I'm obviously in the "show me" state of mind with him.

Hope he surprises us all. Hopefully the players are comfortable with him
