G5 Conference Records

And just like that, the so-called Sunbelt 2.0 is the strongest P5 conference?

Also, glancing at current Sunbelt schedules, good gawd. They are scraping the bottom of the FCS barrel to come up with some OOC wins. Did "whatever the opposite of the Midas touch" Karl Benson put them up to this in an attempt to boost bowl eligibility that is more transparent than SMU's payroll schemes back in the early 80s?

In 2013, the CUSA went 1-4 against the SBC. Bleh.

Tulane had two of those loses and one win. That left TexSt beating USM, and Troy beating UAB.

In 2014 we have 4 matchups:

UAB avenged it's loss to Troy 48-10.

LaTech buried ULL 48-20.

NMSU @ UTEP on 9/13.

AppState @ USM on 9/20.

I expect UTEP to kick NMSU all the way back to Las Cruces. If USM can beat appy then we'll go 4-0 against SBC and gain all bragging rights.

In case anyone is wondering WHY this is important, it's because money distribution from the playoff system will be tied to conference performance:

Sporting News: Group of five work on revenue distribution plan

The Big East Conference, Mountain West, Conference USA, Mid-American and Sun Belt comprise the group of conferences outside of the BCS system after this 2013 season. While the college football playoff is expected to pay out as much as $500 million annually, the "group of five" will divy up about $86 million per year.

A source told CBS Sports that more than half of the $86 million will be evenly split. A second tier pays out on the overall conference's performance, with the top conference getting the most and the least impressive performer getting the least amount of money.

A third tier pays out to the conference with the highest-ranked team, which is guaranteed an access bowl bid or a spot in the playoffs if it is among the top four teams in the nation.

ETA: In other words, out performing the other G5 conferences means millions more.

Hopefully some more P5 wins will be added to that record this year. If we keep beating Indiana, maybe we can swap conferences with them so that everyone here can complain about the B1G not being a good enough fit.
