UNT BBall Tip Off Party Observations

Biggest observation is that we really didnt learn much because the guys were going about 30 percent on offense and about 10 percent on defense.

What we did learn?

Tony has obviously been working on going to his left. He had a sweet left handed baseline move and another from the top of the key early in the scrimmage. This is encouraging.

Bad news- Coleman is 6'8", just a hair shorter than Holman when they stood side by side.

Good news-Coleman looked ripped. No sign of a slight weight problem as was reported when he sign. Also, although only 6'8" tall, he is wider than a house. I found myself hoping he would suit up tonight and play tight end. Can he play defense and rebound? We will find out Nov. 9th.

The team looked very athletic, but when you are play yourself, you tend to view yourself in the most favorable light.

Sad that Hardwick didn't get to play, was looking for a PJ preview.

All in all, great entertainment and a great crowd (2k plus), more than I have seen at some home games.

No pit crew was disappointing, but I think most of them were lining the floor.

Half court shot to win $250 by that kid was awesome.

That is all.

I respectfully disagree..Coleman is easily an inch and a half taller than Tony -- as this picture attached indicates

I actually think Holman may be taller than he was last year.

I remember my freshman year at NT (2009) There was maybe 2 or 3 dunks all season. There is so much athleticism on this team it could be 2 to 3 dunks a half. The guys looked great last night but were all really tired from 2 practices earlier that day. I'm incredibly excited for this coming season and can't wait to see where they go! GMG

Maybe attached the wrong picture? Even if he is 1/2 inch taller than Mitchell, that makes him 6' 8 1/2" . Not exactly 6'10" or 6'11".

I do think you may be right about Holmen, as he does appear to be taller than last year, and slightly taller than both Coleman and Mitchell. Maybe this is why Benford was raving about him in the press conference.

Either way, Coleman is a load because of his girth down low (hehe). It will be interesting to see just how good of a post defender and rebounder he is, because he definitely has the physique for it.
