Seminole Junior College post Dorota Clat signed a national letter of intent Thursday to play basketball at North Texas.

Clat, a 6-4 native of Poland, is expected to replace Vilma Grismanauskaite, a 6-4 native of Lithuania who started for the Lady Eagles as a senior last season. Clat also made recruiting visits to Massachusetts, Southwest Missouri State, Oral Roberts and New Orleans.

"I think it was critical that we had somebody that size to replace what Vilma did for us," UNT coach Tina Slinker said. "I think she’ll come in and really have a major role right away. We were fortunate to get her."

Clat averaged 10 points, five rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game last season. Seminole coach Rita Story-Shell described Clat as a very good athlete whois still learning the game.

"Dorota is becoming more aggressive every day," Story-Shell said. "She is very athletic and quick for her size and good in transition. The more she played, the more confident she became. She’s becoming an offensive threat. I expect big things from her."
