Speed Traps - Beware As The Weather Warms Up

Recommended Posts

This site shows several motorcycle offers being killed, however the last one was in 1968.

Appears that 6 were killed between 1952 and 1968 (5 in the 50's). (I was a motorcycle officer 1959-1960)

Of the 10 FWPD officers killed since 1980:

5 were shot

3 were hit while assisting motorist

1 heart attack

1 1 car accident

I count 9 between 1914 and 1968. However, there have been three PD officers killed in the metroplex from motorcycle wrecks in the past four years I believe. One that was escorting Hillary Clintons' motorcade in Dallas during her presidential campaign in '08, one who was killed off duty in Dallas last year on the freeway and then the Arlington cop who slid his motorcycle under a bus last year. I apologize for not knowing those fella's names.

OK, I'm one who will defend the police, but if tickets are actually being issued for 3-4 miles over the limit that this article states, it is ridiculous.

Time has really passed me by. Years ago, when I was an officer, we allowed a 9 mile per hour tolerance (except for school zones).

Although I'd rarely stop anyone for less than 7 over, not necessarily ticketing them, 3-4 miles over IS still speeding.Chances are the driver did something to earn that ticket.
