Cool way to support the troops

Recommended Posts

I heard a report on an organization that is matching servicemembers with civilians to help them get the items they can't get overseas. The organization has been doing it since 1995 and I was impressed at how quick I got a servicemember and the items he'd like to get. We got 1 male and 1 female servicemember. Since I was not fortunate enough to serve our country in the Armed services I thought this was a great idea.

I will say from experience that generic toiletries such a soap, deodorant, shampoo, razor, etc. are readily available, the Red Cross ships over palletloads of that stuff. Good things would be gourmet coffees (already ground), skin-so-soft, ( I took that with me, and was offered almost kingly ransoms for it after hot weather - and bugs - set in by May. Since I only had the one bottle, I kept it)

"The Personal Touch" kind of things are most appreciated. They also have plenty of access to tobacco products. Sunscreen is a good thing to have over there.
