Sampson to Indiana

Watching ESPN today I saw Kelvin Sampson is going to Indiana. This is a great hire for them.

Talk about a MAJOR LEAGUE SNUB!!! They never even called Steve Alford of Iowa or Orlando Magic assistant Randy Wittman. Both are great coaches. Looks like the reason for the not even calling them is because of each of their ties to Bobby Knight.

Yes - its a pure basketball school - OU sells out but doesn't have people show (a problem we could use.)

Sampson has often bemoaned the lack of support until January - he will get what he wants now with 24 hour attention for better or worse.

Sad thing is that the pending NCAA problems caused by Sampson's staff will stay with OU.

I was a little surprised to hear the news that Sampson was leaving to Indiana since I knew that his son is on the squad there at Oklahoma. Usually when coaches have their kid on the squad, they usually use the "I'm going to stay here and coach my kid" line. Granted his son had very limitied playing time the past 3 years. Wonder if Kellen transfers up to IU now?

Someone can check me on this but I think he would lose his last year of eligability.

I think the rule is that you have to sit out a season if you transfer to another school. So the time to transfer is early on in the first or second year. Kellen has already put 3 years in.
