Do we stand a chance at the MWC?

Recommended Posts

To get into the MWC we need:

1)32000+ attendance

2)new football stadium

3)top 25 team in something OTHER than football.

4)15k of 32k in stands to be incredibly attractice women.(to boost attendance of dudes to 70k)

We need to do all the things on that list just for us; that is, never minding a possble future in the MWC.

IMHO, "IF" the MWC expanded in Texas, I'd see them wanting the Houston TV market and that would be UH, of course. Just don't think UH will have near as good as facilities as NORTH TEXAS once the entire Mean Green Athletic Village is completed. And if NT hasn't learned anything in recent years, haven't we learned where facilities do make a difference sometimes in getting in conferences? Even having good overall facilities over some schools who regularly go to bowl games in some cases? rolleyes.gif

In monday or tuesday's Startlegram the MWC commissioner was qouted as saying their expansion ended with TCU. And after the magic wand that was waved with Louisville at the end of last season so that their new conference could count them them as a member so they could miss having to go their first year without a team ranked in the top 10, preventing the first step towards losing it's BCS rating, then there is no way the MWC will become a true BCS. No way.

I predict TCU is headed for a huge train wreck.

Train Wreck? The MWC is really a step up from CUSA, is it not?

I think that current wisdom is that there are still conferences (i.e. LaTech in WAC, Arkansas in SEC, Baylor in Big 12,UCF in CUSA) with schools that really would be rather be, or would be better fits somewhere else, in the long term.

Most do not expect the current conference configurations to last very long.

That same rule could alllow the MWC to grab a #6 (BCS ranked) Boise and leapfrog the Big East once the time is appropriate. It wouldn't make any difference this year - but 2008 is right around the corner. Don't get me wrong, I think the big boys will change the rules AGAIN if that happens... but if the MWC was smart; they would snag Boise or Fresno now and prepare to sue.

I think they should invite Boise, Fresno, and UNT before the BCS changes the rules.
