  1. Watching the KU game but following our score too. How do we look? Seems spotty, like we go on a run then they creep back up but hard to tell just based on the score
  2. I wouldn't put too much stock in putting up a fight against Texas. Texas is continually overrated year after year only to get "upset" by actually good teams. KU would have beat them had it not been for a buzzer beating field goal by Dicker the Kicker. Had the stars aligned, they could very likely have been looking at 3 straight losses going into K-State this weekend which has all the firepower to hand them yet another L. Back to the topic. While the 'Dawgs schedule is as cupcake as you'll find, I still think that team is as good as advertised. I just don't see us matching up toe to toe with them. Hope I'm wrong.
  3. Based on what I've read it sounds like it is neck and neck between Bean and Aune (pronounced Aune), with Bean having the slighter edge. The game seems to be transitioning towards more duel threat quarterbacks (Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes), which I feel gives you so many options to work with. I was at the Chiefs - Texans game and the Texans absolutely picked the Chiefs defense apart because the Chiefs had no idea how to handle the Texans and all of their weapons. While I am cautiously optimistic that an improved O-Line will benefit a pocket passer like Aune, I think the job is Bean's to lose.
  4. I was there with UTEP family, friends, and Jayhawk girlfriend. We got there early and was disappointed at the initial turnout at the tailgate as I thought people were genuinely staying away given the way the season was going but then the crowd kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Needless to say, I walked away very proud of our school that day. Turnout was great, the tailgate was even better. Also props to UTEP fans. They had a very size-able crowd also. All in all, great time.
  5. We were supposed to crush win-less UTEP last year and barely squeaked out a 27-24 win. We were supposed to crush 1-5 Charlotte this year and we lost. We weren't supposed to lose to Charlotte up by a touchdown with them all the way back on our 34 yard line with 18 seconds left in the game but we did. This team is so inconsistent that I'm afraid that literally anything can and will happen. Back to the question, can we win? Of course. Will we win? Not even I can say that for certainty
  6. I only knew it was Homecoming because I planned months in advance to be coming in this weekend. I even recently asked my girlfriend if we really wanted to go because we could have just as easily canceled and gone to the KU - K-State game instead. It is sad that KU football brings me more joy than my own school this season but here we are. Literally only decided to follow through with the plans because we want to be back in Denton and have some family and friends that are UTEP fans that we will go with. We also decided that we can leave anytime we want and just go hang out in Dallas so we already have back -up plans at the ready. Happy Homecoming
  7. Absolutely amazing. No accountability from these coaches at all. You adjust! You quit trying to fit a square peg in a round hole! You quit trying to implement a scheme that you don't have the personnel for! Teams lose all-conference players all of the time with no noticeable drop-off because they scheme for the players they have. Charlotte made second half adjustments and they won because of it. Son of a bitch, as if I didn't want this clown gone enough as it is.
  8. Dana Dimel amongst others giving props to one of our own. Also, I see you, Les Miles Finally, How can Doc Holliday coach and see clearly with a stick so far up his ass?
  9. Fun fact, that speech was actually recorded during a youth basketball game that Bobby Knight coached in the off-season.
  10. So my understanding is that we're screwed, basically? We don't have enough of a market or sugar daddies to compete with the big boys?
  11. Ah, got it. I misunderstood the situation. So theoretically, the market a school in matters, correct?
  12. Asking because I honestly don't know, but wouldn't this benefit us in relation to others in our conference such as for recruitment? We have middle to upper athletic spending budgets in our conference that is continually rising so say a school like Southern Miss offers a kid 10% of whatever their likeness brings in, we counter with 15% and bring the commit to our school. Obviously we would be screwed trying to compete with the budgets of P5 schools but I am just trying to gauge what this truly means for us.
  13. Considering the product (ie. our defense), is this really something we want shown on national TV?
  14. This season became a failure the moment we let 2-5 Charlotte crawl back and win it late in the 4th if it wasn't already a failure getting demolished in our OOC schedule. Given the pre-season expectations to win the conference, the Mason Fine Heisman hype, and some people expecting us to go 4-0 in our OOC with big wins over P5 schools, this season has been a disaster. No mediocre bowl win is going to change that.
  15. Hoping basketball got it's collapsing done last year. I am cautiously optimistic about this team given the pieces that were added in the off-season.
  16. Agreed. Someone said it in another thread and I'm slowly coming around to the idea but Frank Wilson was brought up as a good candidate.
  17. Not a surprise. This defense is nationally and historically bad so it was a matter of time before the national media took notice. And not in a good way. What an embarrassment this season turned out to be
  18. Fair enough. And I agree with your assessment above my comment and gave you the up-vote. I have seen quite a few times this season where a head coach gets rid of an under-performing coordinator and they see a resurgence on that side of the ball with new blood and new ideas. While that is not a guarantee with these current players, now is the time to try something new and prepare for next season. What we currently have hasn't worked for years.
  19. This might be the dumbest thread I've seen on here in a while. The head of the defense is not responsible for the recruitment, mismanagement, and ill-preparedness of the defense? Save yourself the embarrassment and delete this thread.
  20. Preach. Also, I am not on the Fire Littrell train, but part of that fat contract he got is decision making to fire horrible assistants before they sink him. He needs to right this ship next year or the burners on his seat need to be turned up. You can't be the highest paid coach in the conference with no conference championship wins and no bowl wins.
  21. I was at that game and it was truly an embarrassment. UTEP family and other fans; of all people, clowning me about making Aaron Jones look like a Heisman candidate and knocking us out of bowl contention. This defense has never stepped up when it has mattered and I am fed up
  22. This. Stop trying to guilt trip the rest of us because we won't put up with this putrid of a season or coaching staff. That old mindset kept us in the cellar for years and this is a new age. Money, resources, support, this coaching staff has absolutely everything they need to succeed and what are they doing with it? Nothing. Doesn't mean we love this school any less. It's because with higher buy in and donations come expectations and time and time again, this coaching staff hasn't met it. Multi millions of dollars everywhere to not even win a bowl game. Pathetic
  23. Said the exact same thing in another post. With record donations come expectations. If fans aren't seeing the benefits of their contributions and ticket sales slow down and money stops coming in, it's a kick in the ass to make change. And before someone talks about RV, this is different leadership with different expectations. They will be prompted to make changes
