  1. Just sent you email noting potential conflict, but will try to be there. Basketball playing days are over unless there is such a think as designated free throw shooter. LOL
  2. Hawaii Bowl has next pick after Liberty. If Rice goes to Liberty and with Tulane going to New Orleans, UNT is the only western division team left when Hawaii picks. Heart of Dallas may not get a chance to pick UNT.
  3. Seven teams in C-USA are eligible. Six teams won at least seven games, and should get invites. Armed Forces Bowl had third pick from C-USA, but gave that to Navy instead. That leaves six bowls that have contractual agreements with C-USA, and FAU (6-6) will probably get left out. Liberty gets first pick, and should get Rice - Marshall winner. Hawaii gets second pick, and could pick from Rice - Marshall loser or ECU. Tulane is going to (staying in) New Orleans. But if Rice wins C-USA and goes to Liberty, then UNT is only team left in western division, and could be most attractive to Hawaii. OUCH That leaves Heart of Dallas, Beef 'O Brady, and Military to pick from Rice - Marshall loser, ECU, and MTSU.
  4. Solution for 2015 is to host the C-USA championship for a sixth home game.
  5. High kickoff return yardage means you receive a lot of kickoffs (after opponents score).
  6. Is it possible there is simply not enough time between the players leaving the field and the band needing to be in position for pre-game?
  7. Going to a wedding at 6:00, so watching at home is only feasible option.
  8. Thinking about the rule that was not enforced this year that the student section could not be behind visitor bench, will home and visitor benches be reversed next year? Just wondering?
  9. Need to win at Tulsa and go 8-4 plus a bowl. Think about how that compares to most expectations before the season started. UNT is much better than a lot of folks expected, and so is UTSA. That is great for Texas football in C-USA. Now as we enjoy our Thanksgiving and what it means, think about the players getting prepared for the game. Sure, losing to UTSA hurts a lot, but this 2013 Mean Green team has already exceeded most expectations. Enjoy that!
  10. Great stuff, as always. I note that UTSA pass offense versus UNT pass defense is only situation where UTSA has the advantage. I would think a cold windy day would force both teams to run the ball more often, thus minimizing UTSA's only advantageous matchup.
  11. No trouble keeping the beer cold today, but a bit of brandy would be great by the third quarter.
  12. Layering up for this one - thermals, knot cap, scarf, and lined hooded coat. May not be showing much green though.
  13. Would love to see seventh home game on December 7.
  14. Looks now like best chance for precipitation (rain, not snow) will be in the morning. It will be cool with temperatures in low 40's. I see a bit of irony in this. Ball State from up north wilted in the heat in September. How will that UTSA team from the south fare in the cold? Maybe we should not mention that.
  15. Dad was from Minnesota and went to Univ. of Minnesota before moving to California. Mom grew up in El Paso and went to what is now UTEP for three years before her family moved to Los Angeles. She graduated from UCLA. Folks met and married before war, and I was first of four kids born after WWII, while Dad served as pilot for USN. For me, kindergarten and first grade in California, second through fourth grade (two houses, two schools) in Phoenix, fifth through start of eighth (two houses, three schools) in Lubbock, and rest of eighth through high school in Richardson (one school building, one house). While a lot of my HS classmates headed west to Tech, I had already spent more than three years in Lubbock. As a kid, I saw my first live football game at Tech - I think against Oregon State. Dad had a business connection with Tom Harpool, and we were invited to a NT game at Fouts in 1959 or 1960 when I was still in junior high. Between a budget covering four kids and having moved enough already, going to college at a state school close to home was an easy decision. With a change in majors halfway through, I graduated from NTSU in five years. I attended every home plus three road football games and nearly all home basketball games from 1964 - 1969. Between no sports communication from the alumni association and the fall to a lower division, I lost track of and interest in UNT sports for most of the next 35 years while living in Dallas and Richardson. My employer moved headquarters to Lewisville in early 2006, and we moved from Richardson to Flower Mound a month earlier. Having been a Cowboy season ticket holder for 19 years before JJ bought the club and a Mavericks season ticket holder for ten, our interest in pro sports developed an inverse relationship with player salaries and ticket prices. I thought to myself, why not reconnect with UNT now that we are so close. So we are now in our sixth year of football ticket season holders and this year went from frequent ticket buyer to season tickets for basketball.
  16. That poster brings back memories. I saw all the home games that year and went with a couple of buddies to that last game in Memphis.
  17. Joe Greene played on the varsity team in 1966 and was named to the AP all-conference team. By the way, that freshman team did not win a game that year.
  18. It was TBA for a long time, but I thought it was changed to 2:30. Both team websites now have TBA. I want that game over before 6:00 wedding we are going to that evening. Noon would be great.
  19. We had more than 30,000, but 5,000 tailgated through the game.
  20. For the last few years, football was disappointing enough that basketball couldn't get here soon enough. Not so this year as basketball actually sneaked up on us.
  21. Assume UTEP quarterback(s) will take more than ten snaps.
  22. Very possible, giving us seven home games. Ticket office should be preparing for that possibility.
