  1. SMU....if you can't find a P5 that will accept you...go independent. Play no one but P5s. If you can win more than half of those games then declare yourself a P5 independent. You'll be the first that a P5 conference will look at when they are ready to expand. Playing nothing but P5s you should be able to sell out Ford most of the time.
  2. I don't know if Edwards can be kept on the bench or not. He needs the minutes because he's going to be another prolific scorer.
  3. Nope. Can't wear them in DATCU Stadium. You can wear the hat with the floppy brim though.
  4. I can pretty well match your hot job but I can't top the coach story. Between my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college, I worked that summer at Acme Brick in Denton. My first job was to help build a kiln. We would go up into the kiln after the bricks had somewhat cooled, load them on a treybar (it's an open air wheelbarrow), haul them down the ramp, pulling back on the treybar as hard as you could to keep it from running away with you. When you got to the bottom you would go to the new kiln and unload by throwing two bricks at a time to the bricklayer who started out where you could just hand them to him until the side of the kiln got to be eight to ten feet in height. It was about 110 outside and hotter in the kiln where you were loading. I lost about fifteen pounds that I didn't have to lose and had to buy so many pairs of gloves that I barely made a profit. Regarding your story, the late Chuck Mills was one of my favorite people. I can imagine that he got a good laugh out of that.
  5. Yeah, but we need to get an early lead and pour it on. The second half starts getting cooler as the sun gets behind the press box.
  6. If they'd put us on ESPN (and not ESPN+) we could be in League 2. Hopefully, that will change after this year (although we still have few ESPN but do have some ESPN N).
  7. What happened to the $480,000M that was supposedly paid to the Pac 12? Could that be distributed to the four remaining teams?
  8. Was our highest rated lineman, Paula Vaipulu, present? I find it hard to believe that he hasn't made, at least, the second team OLine. Did Datraveon Brown play? He spent much of last year in a cast but announced that he was fit and ready for this year.
  9. I'd give heavy odds that no one can match those changes. And heaven knows, how many assistant coaches are new in football, basketball (both men's and women's), softball...heck, most all of the sports.
  10. I think/hope that you're right on SMU. UTSA could win twelve as long as Lewis is the quarterback (which thankfully this is his final collegiate year.) They only lost three offense and three defense. As for Traylor going to A$M...good luck and good riddance! I hope that you are right.
  11. I have a question. There is a Graduate Center in McKinney. Is it a part of the UNT System?
  12. If you had an offer from the ACC or the Big 12, I would understand. Otherwise ???.
  13. I don't know that we'll know the final teams in the final mix until Oliver Luck (Stanford) and Mike Aresco reach an agreement. So whoever Mike worked out the agreement with it did not hold (or at least hasn't yet). I think that Luck is trying to get more money for the four former Pac 12 teams) or maybe just Stanford and Cal). We won't know until Jared tells us the final score. I, for one, don't want to go to another conference and would prefer not to go west. I'm guessing that Cal, Oregon State and Washington State have agreed to go along with Stanford. Maybe that's good because I understand SMU wants to go west and South Florida does also. Of course, this can't possibly be done before the '24 season and likely not until '25.
  14. It seems to me that Oregon State is the only one that has posted that has been friendly to us.
  15. My extreme thanks for the birthday wishes and compliments to all that responded and to those who thought "Well, it's good to know that the old fart is still with us." I hope to make a few more to see how the membership in the American Conference pans out but at 92, it's mostly under God's control. After losing my wife of 66 years two years ago, I'm ready for anything. I'm disabled after breaking both hips but my oldest daughter and son-in-law are loyal to see that I get to every home game and if they can't my youngest daughter (in the picture shown) takes their place. I'm so fortunate that my three (former) children take very good care of me. At least, my handicap gets me the best seat in the house (back of Section 105).
  16. We were in the same boat until we finally took shelter under the eaves of the "Press Box".
  17. Dollar to a doughnut that Stanford loves SMU (money), thus the Pac? will gladly take them.
  18. As best as I can remember, all fraternities required their pledges to attend every home game.
  19. I took a quick summary of the early postings and came up with an average forecast of 24,348. There was one prediction of 30,000 and two predictions of 20,000; which was the lowest prediction. We could have a capacity, or near capacity crowd because Coach Morris spoke to the Freshman Orientation, which was our largest freshman class, and you know that he is a compelling speaker. He told them that he would see them at the opening game. I don't think that Littrell ever spoke to the Freshmen.
  20. #2 Oh wait, I thought that was a question to SMU.
  21. If true, this league won't start until 2025 after the $24M exit fee expires. Or not.
  22. 28,750 Cloudy is better than the hot sun beating down on you. It should bring out quite a lot more students.
  23. Well, I'll say it again...I do not believe that Mike Aresco will abandon the conference that he created. I do believe that four AAC teams would leave however and that would put a crimp in the American for awhile but I think that we can cherry-pick from other conferences and eventually regain status. I trust Aresco more than I trust Stanford. I don't fault the other Pac 3 teams for staying where they are and I hope that they survive (or if they don't that they'll join the AAC. Stanford can be an independent for all I care. I didn't know about the 27 month wait to exit the AAC after paying the $10M exit fee. It will keep us together and give us time to see what we can do with the MWC leftovers, among others. We need to stay strong because further division will make us weaker.
