  1. Were Russell and Cotton not there long enough to get any PT? Were they even dressed out?
  2. Why bother with posting the full article when it always seems deleted by the Daily.
  3. It seems odd to say but maybe one or both would sponsor the Don January Golf Tournament.
  4. I'll admit that it is a rarity that the defense carries the offense but it seems to be working at JMU. While they won't be eligible for the playoffs, they should get a minor bowl and they can start building their prominence.
  5. He's pulling Morris way down and he's not helping the rest of the coaches. I hope that Eric will come to his senses and see what's happening. He'll have to stick with him for this year but bye-bye as soon as this season ends. Don't worry with trying to get the personnel to fit his system. Surely Eric Morris knows some good defensive coordinators. He's about to have rebellion from fans and students (if he can get any to the games.) At least we won't worry again about Tulane and Memphis being winnable. When we play SMU we'll be 40 points behind. That will hurt even more.
  6. Holy Receiver, Batman! How did you know? He is perceived to be the best one of all but that might be a little to heavy at this time. All I know is that several of the Big Boys are swarming around and trying to take him from us. I consider him the replacement for Burns but he should be a little better. If we could get four the caliber of Maclin, it's almost assured that one of them will be open on every play. I surely hope that we can keep this receiver but I imagine we'll see an outlandish offer trying to get him away. Right now, he seems convinced we are the one and I hope the we can come close to matching the NIL this player will be offered.
  7. Army plays hard which I expect but with the one exception I do not see them as being "dirty". The spearing non-call in their last visit here was the exception. I have great respect for all three service academies and welcome the chance to play them on a regular/semi-regular basis. Kudos to our commissioner for getting them on board.
  8. My only explanation is that some are afraid to pick us to win is because they're afraid they'll jinx us. Surely no one (except an opponent) would constantly downgrade their team.
  9. My name is Jack Fincher and I'm likely the oldest person on this board. My dad worked for Gulf Oil. I started at North Texas in 1948. Went into the Navy in the Korean War 1950 because I decided that I did not want to be a teacher. Returned to North Texas in January 1955 and received my BBA in May 1957.
  10. Yahoo, I hope that he and Rogers rack up the completions and TDs to win the Biletnikoff Award.
  11. So was I, Deep. However, I'll have to cover Navy and look forward to playing them (as well as Army). If we can get Air Force...I've got a connection there also, so bring them on too. I graduated from AFROTC at North Texas.
  12. Keep playing as we are beginning to play and we'll improve. We are newcomers to big time TV and it'll take a little while to get known. While it's true that we haven't raised much of an eyebrow yet, this year will depend on how many times we'll make an appearance and who the opponent is. I wonder how many people in Denton County knew that we were on national TV? We need to advertise...establish watching parties...take out a few ads when we are playing away. We've started in that direction but we still have a way to go. It seems our last games are turning heads. Just win a few and we'll be on our way.
  13. I think that it's just meat. Should've been meat on the hoof.
  14. Why not identify the players that are being interviewed? I can only guess.
  15. Pomeroy, it seems, doesn't start that well. But once the season gets moving, and if you are playing a good schedule, his ratings tend to improve. If we can beat St. John's we should jump about thirty spaces. It's not where you start it's where you finish! .
  16. I thought at first that this is a mirage. However, it really did happen. After the FIU fiasco it seems that each week both sides of the ball are buying in. My player, Jordan Brown, just keeps getting better. He had 15 tackles against Tulane to lead the team! I doubt that Rogers can do this well every game but he's definitely the one for the job. What's good is that he's not relying on just one or two receivers. He used four receivers for scoring. I liked that Lively got a touchdown in his first game.
  17. Imagine what it might have been if he had half the success in the first half that he had in the second. Could it have been the play calling??? Maybe he just thrives on coming from behind. Either way, what a game he played!!!
  18. I don't remember what the entrance fee is to join the ACC but the exit fee is $160 million. We can't afford to get in or get out yet. There have been some inroads of improvement but we still have a long way to go.
  19. If we could get a crowd like the above for every game that would make this old man happy. That crowd looks worthy of an American Athletic Conference. I've seen improvement on both sides of the ball so hopefully it will continue. Tulane may be too tough for us to handle but another week of improvement against the conference champion is labeled progress. Good vocal crowds seem to bring out the best in players.
  20. I don't remember them bad-mouthing the teams that were going (maybe Charlotte). Hattiesburg-Laurel is a small market and you would have to have an extremely good team to hope to advance. If they could get a president, athletic director and a coach that can turn heads they might return as they had good attendance when they were successful. They need money support in the worst way. They're in a decent conference now but that takes money to be competitive.
  21. I counted around 20 recruits on the sideline at the Temple game. I have no way of knowing how many were new and how many were here before. I do like the enthusiasm that they generate on the sideline.
