  1. In some ways it would be nice but that ship sailed with the demise of the Southwest Conference when only Arkansas was an outsider. Yes, I understand that there are more universities that would qualify for a Texas conference but Humble Oil and Refining toted most of the bill and I don't think that you would find a single sponsor willing to spend that kind of money again.
  2. It does not appear that we can get Stanford but we need to hear that from Aresco. The last I heard Stanford is leaning heavily toward the ACC. However, that conference is about to be a mess. The SEC is thinking about offering Clemson and Florida State. The BIG is also rumored to be looking at North Carolina and ? to fill the east side after Oregon and Washington come aboard. I don't know if that will change Stanford's mind or not. California was supposed to keep the Bay Area teams together. This supposedly has something to do with Apple TV which is based in the Silicon Valley and has made some sort of deal with Stanford. It does seem that the AAC could get Oregon State and Washington State. Then we could invite California and a MWC team or if California turns us down then two from the Mountain West. I know that we seem to prefer Air Force and Colorado State. We'll just have to wait to see what Commissioner Aresco has been able to do.

  4. I'll admit that I'm shocked to see the huge debt of these colleges. I struggle to understand why some of these debts are so large. The only one that I partially understand is San Diego State, who abandoned a large stadium; played at a small stadium about 100 miles away; and is building a smaller stadium near campus (I think). My other point is how do you know that Stanford, or any other private university, doesn't have a large amount of debt? We don't. Private universities don't publicly announce their income and expenses. Most have huge endowments so we don't worry about their ability to pay their debt but that will remain a mystery.
  5. Well, they were two private schools.
  6. I've got a headache trying to figure all of the possible scenarios that could evolve from the dissolution of the Pac 12. We have the best possible commissioner taking on this fight. I'm just going to sit back and trust in Mike Aresco. He'll get the best deal for the AAC and I'll wait and see what he can do.
  7. I knew that Mike Aresco had been working behind the scenes but as good as he is I was skeptical that he could pull anything off that bordered on getting the four remaining teams from the leftovers of Pacific 12. I'm pleased that he might have gotten football but there are other sports that would be burdensome for our eastern teams. That's why I'm dubious that this will happen. I'm also curious as to why it hasn't been publicized by now. The markets wouldn't be too bad. Two are in San Francisco; one is in Portland, OR and the other in Spokane, WA. However, I don't believe that Mike could renegotiate the ESPN contract in this period of time to get the Pac 4 the 25 million dollars that they want. I mean we have to wait a year or two to get the full amount and even if Mike has talked to ESPN about the western teams, I can't believe that that they would go for it that quickly. Translation: I'll believe it after I see it.
  8. I hope that we're not a part of the Pacific 4 and rely on revenue from Apple Streaming. I'd much rather stay in the AAC get TV revenue from ESPN. I'd hate to lose Rice, Tulane, and SMU (there I said it) but that's their decisions. We might be able to get Air Force, Colorado State and maybe New Mexico or Army to fill us back up.
  9. The MWC exit fee is $34 million through 2024. The fee after that has yet to be determined. I hope that no one's thinking of leaving the AAC (except SMU, who, if they get the right deal, has the money to pay it.) The right deal is anything that would make them a P5.
  10. Come on, guys! Give me a break! I've got somewhere between five minutes and five years left on planet Earth! And, here you are scheduling us to go to the other team first. The odds are that I won't still be alive for the return visit. How about scheduling home first?
  11. They're just buying games so they won't have to travel. And, they make so much money at home games that they still can afford a fairly large payout to an FCS and still make more than the travel would cost. They can elevate themselves by winning most any conference game.
  12. I don't believe that it would be wise to pursue any of the remnants of the Pac 12. The travel expense, the late night games, and the cost multiplies when it includes basketball x2, soccer, and softball. Track and field and cross country as well as golf x2 would only require conference tournaments so that's doable. And what about Temple or East Carolina having to travel to Corvalis, Oregon? I think that Colorado State and Air Force should be the only western schools considered. Furthermore, I hope that the AAC is capped at sixteen teams.
  13. Well, one thing this is accomplishing...the six that were trying to go to the Pacific from the AAC likely won't have a conference to go to. So, if everyone stays, let's build the AAC.
  14. I'm not sure about the home; I believe that it will be green jerseys. Not sure about the pants. They could be white, green or black. I don't believe that Coach Morris would do an all black when he finds out about the cheap black jerseys for his final game.
  15. In addition, if the new teams have moderate success it's going to push the Rutgers, even Maryland further down. The B1G has already destroyed the Pac 12 now they are trying to destroy the ACC. When does the GREED stop?
  16. Not saying you're wrong about the Pac 12 being a pitifully run conference but in SDSUs case it was the enormous exit fee from the MWC ($34 million) that caused the long delay.

    MEAN GREEN AWAY 1

Now that's what I'm talking about. The helmet is really sharp with the NT. Ditto for the letters and numbers on the jersey. I'm not sure what's on the shoulders. Is it the position that they play? I hope that you left the name on the back. My grade is A+.
  18. If GoMeanGreen started a collective, without assurance that the donations would be tax deductible, I would imagine that any donations would be small.
  19. I believe the Pacific Conference is done for. They asked for $50 million per university per year TV rights and I don't think that they can get half that much. The only two left standing are Oregon State and Washington State for sure. Oregon and Washington are trying to go to the B1G. The Big XII are looking at Arizona, Arizona State, and possibly Utah. They already have Colorado. If Stanford and Cal don't get an offer from a P5 they're likely to go independent. The Mountain West may have seen this coming because there's a $34 million buyout per school and who knows what the entry fee would be to the Pac 12? None of the MWC can afford that kind of money to get on a sinking ship. Even if Cal and Stanford decided to stay; a four member conference wouldn't work. The four...Cal, Stanford, Oregon State, and Washington State would have to be independent or join the MWC, the AAC, or both. I'm warming my bugle up to play "Taps". x
  20. They haven't seen the worst yet. So far, just Colorado has indicated they will leave. There could very well be Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington and possibly Utah as well. When that happens there's virtually no choice but to backfill with MWC teams. If they do, that will wreck the Mountain West and the Pac 12 as well. That should drop them to a G5. The TV revenue will drop considerably. If all the AAC teams that applied get accepted, they won't get much more TV revenue and will lose that to increased travel expenses. In addition, they will pay an exit fee to leave the AAC and another fee to enter the "Pacific 12". Should that happen, it would force the AAC to cherry pic the best of the Sun Belt and CUSA, weakening us and the conferences having better teams taken. It also would eventually reduce the payout from TV revenue for the AAC. If we could cap each conference at 16 teams that might cure some of the wanderlust. SMU, Tulsa, Rice, Tulane, Memphis and USF please reconsider and withdraw your applications. Save the AAC and the best commissioner in college football. One more thing,,,just remember these are supposed to be athletic conferences, not academic conferences.
  21. If any Freshman ever gets to start my candidate would be Ma'Syn Howell. This kid is a great hustler who averaged 16 points and 8 steals at the Legends School in Spring. He was spoken of as the best point guard of 2023. He is a superior ball handler and dishes out a lot of assists. He is great at finding the open man and appears to be a good three-point shooter. He is an 80% free throw shooter.
  22. I like them all but Fresno. I know competitive wise and attendance wise it might fit but if they put a loop around Fresno I'd take the loop everytime. And, I'd be out of town before dark. I won't tell you what I really think of it.
  23. With a composite rate of .8750, he joins our top rated players. He has it all.
  24. He has a long list but only about five or six are FBS.
