  1. Very encouraged with the recent recruiting news. Keep it up TD and Co.!
  2. Totally agree. We've got three upcoming games that I feel good about (even if we don't have Wooden in the lineup). If it's even questionable, keep him out of the lineup until the Denver game.
  3. Good post Emmitt. I particularly agree with #3 and #5. UT and UTA killed us with their Zone defense. When we get our open looks, we've got to be able to knock them down consistently. I like that we can play "Up-Tempo" with anyone, but I'd really like to see our half court set progress as the season continues. Playing to our competition has been a problem in recent years, and to some extent this year as well. When we truly outclass a team, I'd really like us to show that. Again, consistency is the key.
  4. Agree. Do you know of anyone JUCO or High School players that might be a logical target for Johnny to recruit?
  5. I thought they meant upset in terms of coming back from a 21 point deficit...not in overall talent. Maybe I misunderstood the way they were presenting it.
  6. I vote Brennan. Of course my Non-BCS bias is showing here big time. I still think he's put together some tremendous years there in Hawaii. McFadden is probably the best player in College football though.
  7. I certainly think that there's a logical connection that can be made here.
  8. The Technicolor will indeed be amazing. I'm calling for at least 3 addendum's in his first post in this thread as well.
  9. Agreed Ramone. I've never understood why we (as a fanbase) can't just thank Dickey and Co. for their hard work, and more importantly successes during his tenure and move on. We went to FOUR freaking Bowl games in a row. It was definitely time for NT to move in a different direction, but to act as though everything that happened in the Dickey era was a disaster is revisionist history at best.
  10. While we definitely played poorly in the first half, but give UT some credit for that. Their two guards are ridiculous and didn't miss anything early. Their bigs got Wooden in foul trouble early, and that had a terrible effect on NT for the rest of the half (having Wooden on the bench that is). They played tenaciously on defense to start the game, and seemed to take advantage of every mistake that NT made.
  11. Good thoughts CBL, The only thing that I kinda disagree with is your point about Wooden. If he hadn't picked up those early fouls, and was able to stay on the floor in the 1st half, I think the game could have gone differently. Those two early offensive fouls really seemed to cause the NT post players to play soft down there. We ended up having no inside out threat, and it made our offense (or lack thereof) very one dimensional. Couple that with a well executed full court press (when are we ever gonna learn how to press break properly???) and we had major problems offensively. I felt that we really gained momentum and cut that lead down in the 2nd half because our half court game actually started to produce results. Early in the 2nd half, that was directly attributable to Wooden being back on the floor. When they had to start respecting the half court offense, their press seemed to take a back seat for a period of time. We started dictating pace in the transition game, and Josh really caught a hot hand. In short, I feel that more Wooden in the first half would have been a good thing for us. After all isn't more Wooden all the time a good thing?
  12. Agreed to an extent. In the 2nd half, when we made our run, the half court offense actually looked pretty good compared to the 1st half. We were feeding Wooden under the basket, and he was having his way early in the 2nd. Having Wooden back on the court in the 2nd half made all the difference in my opinion (we became a threat inside and out). When the half court offense started producing results, the UT press seemed to cease. When that occurred and we were able to dictate pace, good things started to happen. White caught a hot hand, and started scoring at will during this stretch, and UT went cold with their shots from the perimeter for a stretch. Ultimately, we cooled off a bit, and UT got their wheels back on. It was just too big of an early game hole to dig out of. Still proud of the way the guys played in the 2nd half, especially when they could have just mailed it in.
  13. Agree. Knox seems like a nice player, but when teams like Texas State and UTA are recruiting players rated in the top 20-30 in the state, something seems a bit off to me. Maybe Johnny really sees something he likes in this kid, but I'm also hoping to hear about some more high profile recruits that we're looking at. The future is definitely bright if we can keep up this momentum.
  14. Solid post. Looking forward to watching Micah continue his Mean Green career.
  15. Favorite Line 4 guy line: During Birthdays Harry Lipschitz Line 4 guys response "What's his ass do then?"
  16. There's not much difference, really.
  17. Now that's a cool bit of info. I had no idea that Fry kept NT's previous DC when he took over.
  18. Good for JT! Then a special teams blunder...jeez, this gets really old.
  19. NT- 31 FIU- 24 Jamario with one last big game for the Mean Green. At least if we win this game, then it is improvement from last years record. Still disappointing overall, but would be an improvement non the less.
  20. Probably be a crappy attendance at the NO Bowl then. Sucks for Troy and the Sunbelt in general. I was hoping that they'd win this one and the NO Bowl and end up the season ranked. Oh well.
  21. True...It's always discouraging to see starters for your defense out at Razoo's partying with the fans at 3:00 a.m. the night before the game. I was shocked to actually see this with my own two eyes. I believe the announcers during the game even commented on the "dehydration" of one (or several) of the NT players. Go figure.
  22. TTG...Really good stuff in this thread. Let me just say that I agree with what you have posted in regards to W's & L's meaning everything as far as a top 25 ranking is concerned. The SBC is not the problem in terms of rankings. Attendance, maybe...but not as far as the rankings go. I truly feel that if North Texas had beaten Memphis in 2003 that we would have had a legitimate shot at being ranked in the final poll. That's why I was so pissed at NT's terrible effort in that bowl game. It was our "Golden Opportunity" to break out of the crappy mid major mold, and at the same time help "Put the SBC on the map" and we squandered it. We've been paying for that ever since imo. I also feel that if Troy takes care of business against FAU and then Memphis, that they will be the first SBC team to achieve a Top 25 ranking.
