  1. We really are a special situation. We've got to learn to fish in lakes that are close to metropolitan areas like Lake Lewisville, Grapevine, Conroe ect., but we've also got to be competitive in large rural lakes like Texoma, Eufaula, and (your favorite) Beaver lake.
  2. Yeah, and as soon as we can get alumni donating significanly enough to afford 15lb. test line, we'll be able to reel em' in with the best of em'.
  3. Scoreboard! I haven't even been rated...that's how irrelevant I am. Holla!
  4. I want to be clear that I'm not advocating moving away from the highest level of college football, rather promoting change within the current system. Currently it is a sham. It is the only college sport where a great number of schools playing in Division 1 realistically have no shot at winning the national title. Realistically, do I think that Utah, Boise, of Ball State would win a 16 team playoff tournament? Probably not, but they do deserve a chance. No one can say that they would definitely be beaten (no one managed to do it in the regular season, so there is no definitive proof). I can say with certainty that they deserve a chance. It would also eliminate all of the bitching between UT, OU, Tech, USC, Florida ect. The same crap that comes up every year around this time. It would be settled on the field, like every other major college sport. Every team (all 119) that compete within FBS should have a chance (no matter how remote) to win a national title. Otherwise, what is the point really? The system does not reward programs that do more with less, in fact, it penalizes them. I also agree with CMJ. I don't think that forming a BSC non-AQ tournament would draw enough attention nationally. I just want some semblence of fair play in the current system, not the crappy bone they've thrown to the BCS Non-AQ schools currently. It's a joke.
  5. No, it is funny. The "haves" in division 1 football bitching about the system that they created to keep the wealth within the hands of the chosen few is hilarious. Hearing Pete Carroll complain about how USC is being mistreated by the BCS is humorous and sickening at the same time. Watching UT, OU, & Tech have their pitiful pissing match about who "has the right" to represent the Big 12 South in the championship game is entertainment of the highest order. Having 119 division 1 teams with over half of those having no shot (no matter how remote) to play for a National Championship is a joke. Utah, Boise State, and Ball State should all be furious about the current circumstances. Not that it's going to change anything.
  6. Just think, we've got a whole offseason of stuff like this to complain about.
  7. I just got PM'd access...can't wait to join the discussion!
  8. When I first read this, I forgot about the legendary thread. I thought that you had somehow stolen Charlie's "Brother Word Processor" and typed out your response.
  9. I'm interested to see how Middle matches up with them tonight. MTSU really improved as the season went on last year.
  10. Agreed on the pass mentality with the guards. I know that they'll continue to get better with this aspect of the game. I guess last night, it was particularly frustrating because several of the handoffs/fumbles happend during stints of the game where we had some offensive momentum going, only to pass on an easy shot. You're probably right that developing the pass first mentality will end up benefiting the team more coming down the stretch. If that ends up being the case, I'll happily look past early season growing pains. I just want us to be like Middle last year...streaking into the SBC tourney.
  11. He was really referring to the unnecessary extra passes...which there were several. Don't get me wrong, I want Josh and Dom to continue developing their passing skills and a more well rounded game in general, but there were instances where they did a great job of penetrating/getting to the rack and they passed on easy shots for an extra dish that ultimately got fumbled or outright stolen. I know they are still developing players. They just need to continue to work on their decisions with the ball. Both showed some really good things in the game as well.
  12. An observation that I made watching the game as well. Our guards did a pretty good job penetrating last night, but they definitely passed up some "gimmies" for the extra pass. I was impressed with our team rebounding. Glad to see that continue over from last year.
  13. I often worry about bringing the robotics competition to the Super Pit. It's just a matter of time until Skynet flips the switch and attempts to erradicate the human race.
  14. Once again, special teams create a catastophic play that kills any momentum we gained offensively. It's like clock work. Horrible.
  15. The defense has at least shown some flashes of improvement in the last couple of games (nothing consistent mind you), but they did create some much needed turnovers agaist WKU, as well as a phenomenal goal line stand at the end of the game. The special teams are where I see us needing the most improvement. Outside of Truman Spencer, nothing has been very "special". We are lousy on punt and kickoff coverage, and this has created catastrophic plays that change the course of the game. We can not consistently give up that much field position after doing something positive offensively and expect this young defense to bail us out of the mess. It ain't gonna happen.
  16. I've proudly been "North Texas Douche" at TCU games before. Just doing my part.
  17. I know. I was just joking. In all seriousness, the promotion for North Texas football has gotten much better over the 11 years that I've followed the program. I hope that we'll continue to build off of this and give basketball the support that they deserve as well.
  18. There are a lot more posters on campus and in the community. I think we can all agree on the effectiveness of this initiative.
  19. Sadly, I know the answer to this. It is not Warren Moon. It is pro wrestler Norman Smiley (no kidding). In his 15 minutes, he was know for signature dance moves in the ring...his most famous was "The Big Wiggle". *gets gun and shoots self for knowing this*
