  1. This subject is the ultimate life force drain. God, I just want us to win some football games.
  2. 2:00 - 4:30 am was my favorite part. "Good ole Days syndrome" and drinking in the dry house. Well played, sir.
  3. Cerebus, I understand what you are saying about the noise escaping because of the way the stadium is designed. That point is valid. What I mean by having "no home field advantage" is because the fans (specifically the alumni side) don't react to anything that happens in the game. It has been that way on the alumni side for years. The only times I've ever seen fans on that side fired up was the NMSU 02" game for the conference title, the Baylor game, and the SMU game. All of which rank as the top 3 games I've experienced in my 10 years of watching Mean Green football. When the fans are actually "into the game" Fouts isn't really that bad. It just doesn't happen consistently. No one can really argue with that point. KRAM 1, I'm glad that you responded the way that you did. If there were more fans like you sitting on the Alumin side, the games would probably be more fun for everyone. I don't expect the alums to play "dress up" and paint their bodies or anything...I just don't want people yelling at other Mean Green fans to "sit down" when they stand up and cheer for the defense on a big third down. I want the fans to show some emotion during the appropriate times during the game. The alumni could really help to provide our team with a true home field advantage, however, in my 10 years of watching NT football, I have not been impressed with the way the alums "get into the game" save for the examples I mentioned above.
  4. The alumni side has been lame all year. It is hands down the most boring group to watch the game with. Just sit down and watch the game. Don't participate in cheering or creating an actual college game atmosphere. We have no home field advantage when it comes to crowd noise.
  5. Sadly, yes. At least according to many on here. We should all be cheerleaders and nothing else. Remember, all we can talk about is the coaching and the administration. As a matter of fact FFR has gotten so far under my skin with his logical presentation of facts about our defense this year that I'm seeking him out after the game. I've got words for you Rick.
  6. I understand the point that you are attempting to make. However, when you look at logical expansion candidates within the Sunbelt conference, a couple jump out as front runners. NT, Troy, MT, and FAU. It's pretty common sense, and quite a bit of what these programs offer (POTENTIAL) does not have anything to do with recent success on the football field or the basketball court. NT does have as good or better credentials than any of the other teams that I mentioned. To summarily dismiss us as a possible candidate for other leagues based on our last couple of years of football is naive. How did Rice & SMU get into CUSA? It certainly didn't have anything to do with production from their athletic programs. None of the points I made make me a homer (which I proudly am), they make me a realist. I never said that we are the only logical candidate for expansion, just one of a few intriguing candidates. The argument of whether to move from the Sunbelt to another non-BCS conference is something else all together. I'm just saying that in the next round of conference shake ups, NT will be considered by other leagues. We already were last time. It is common knowledge.
  7. So four consecutive football Conference championships/NO Bowl appearances, winning the Sunbelt Conference Basketball tourney as well as making an NCAA Tourney appearance, couple of women's NIT appearances, as well as a highly successful soccer program...all in recent years don't put NT into consideration for other conferences should another shakeup occur? I'm just pointing this out because we have seen unprecedented athletic success for NT (as a whole) in last decade. Sometimes this fact gets lost on us due to internal bitching about current happenings (ie. a really crappy football season). North Texas is not the only candidate that would be looked at in future expansions, but to discount us because of a bad stint in football right now would be stupid.
  8. Thought I remembered that something like that was the case.
  9. Using a hybrid H-Back type in our offense could prove to be really effective. I hope this is an option that we are considering. Could a guy like Charley Brown be a candidate to do something like this? He seems to have a pretty good combination of size, speed, and hands. Just a thought. Any other suggestions of guys on the current roster that could play in a hybrid position like this?
  10. Williams should have a big year for us. Problem is keeping him on the floor. He's got to get smarter with the fouls down low.
  11. No, he'll be here for the Navy game though. He was asking about you when we all went up there for the Arkansas game.
  12. Me too. Especially under center snaps on short yardage situations on 3rd and 4th down.
  13. So, on a fan message board, all we should be talking about is the administration and the coaching? Sounds like a pretty lively discussion. God, I want us to win some football games. Quoner, want to open another new stadium thread?
  14. Thanks for the info. That is certainly encouraging to hear.
  15. I agree with this, but it seems like players these days are not nearly as focused on fundamentals (I know that's a general assessment, it's just how I feel watching a lot of todays players). If under 75% at the line is inexcusable, then many that have suited up for the Mean Green in recent years have been inexcusable free throw shooters. BTW, I'm not disagreeing with your assessment.
  16. What kind of a FT shooter is Dennis? Bell is pretty terrible from the stripe, and I'd really like to have a guy who could conceivably handle the ball at the end of tight games and hit tough free throws when put on the spot. I've always felt that if our FT shooting could match our teams athleticism, we could really be something special.
  17. What game did you watch? Our defense isn't great, but they were far from our biggest problem this time.
  18. Now, it showed back up in the DirectTV guide on Sports South as being on at 2:30. It's set on my DVR to record. Who knows anymore. My fingers are crossed that they'll actually be showing it.
  19. My DirectTV guide is now showing the programming on Sports South as TBA. Last week it showed North Texas @ Troy and I set it to record. Odds are, we are getting the game blacked out here. This sucks!
  20. Well...out with it. What was so controversial?
