  1. Right. Then when the player was told to "cut it out" by a coach, the player then turned to foul language towards the coach. The big no-no. Also, if reports are to believed (and from the people that I've heard from, I'm inclined to believe they're true), there was more from Green the next day at the team meeting. All of this added together led to his suspension in particular. The other two have been "clingers on" to Green's situation.
  2. Thank you for pointing this out. It's football folks...players and coaches are gonna cuss. The issue is about players being insubordinate towards the coaching staff.
  3. He was also very instrumental in hitting multiple 3's late in a game against Sigma NU, eventually resulting in a big W. What a tear you were on that night. Went on to experience much intramural success in the subsequent years. If I had to break down CBL's game...Heady player who ""leaves it all on the floor" (covers the generic white guy attributes), good ball handling skills, can distribute the rock, and has an effective outside shot. Fundamentally sound.
  4. I also liked Gordo's failed attempt to interject some humor to calm down an irritated Jub.
  5. For those that didn't hear the segment, Jub told the audience the situation. He defended coach Dodge's character, and basically said that the players that are accusing him have nothing of substance to make such allegations. The segment got really interesting when they started taking calls. CBL described what happened in the "wheels off" call. The caller blatantly called Coach as racist (because he coached mainly white kids at Southlake) and George lost it. This topic is an ass whip, but this segment of the Musers was highly entertaining.
  6. That call will, without a doubt, produce some quality Jub drops.
  7. Wow. Lifer just Rick Rolled us all hardcore. Well done.
  8. Met Kevin at an event last year. He is in fact a really nice guy. I also have a pretty "wheels off" story involving an incident where my family and I met his brother Kerry "The Texas Tornado" Von Eric at Wrestlemania VIII. Didn't mention it to Kevin when I met him cause it is kinda sad now in retrospect. Texas wrestling fun fact: My mom's roommate in college dated Stan "The Lariet" Hansen.
  9. Certainly, this point in the game was hard to get into. This does not account for the point in the game that we came back 30-28 and the alumni side of the was still silent. It should be very easy to "get into the game" at a point like that. It also doesn't account for the years of lame crowds on the alumni side. I listed the few exceptions to this in the Attendance thread (so I won't re-hash them here). A rowdy alumni side is definitely the exception, not the rule. I see FFR and other in section E that try to get the crowd to cheer with them, but most time it seems to fall on deaf ears. I do admire their enthusiasm (and wish many more on the alumni shared it). Also, FFR...I think that the sign idea is a good one. The cheerleaders don't seem to know the appropriate times to start chants (or wont use the signs provided like the No Bowl a couple of years back), so maybe the alums could coordinate unified chants better. It might be worth a try.
  10. In answer to your question, yes...it is sad. I know that there is a group in section E that tries very hard to help get the crowd into things, but it's definitely an uphill battle.
  11. This is news to me. I would never figure that the "non-war like" Eppy would ever disgrace himself (her) this way.
  12. That was a valiant effort at some actual football discussion. Too bad no one else really seemed to care. It is funny to read all of the "drama queen" responses on the board though.
  13. Eppy would never tolerate this type of behavior.
  14. After watching Navy a couple of times this year, there is some hope for NT. Offensively, we should be able to move the ball if the line is able to protect Vizza. Navy's defense has been very susceptible to teams moving the ball through the air. Pitt and Delaware were able to move the ball at will on the Navy defense. Navy does not really seem that athletic on the defensive side of the ball. However, our last couple of games, we have been terrible on the offensive line. Hopefully we can get it together for this game. If we can, it could be a shootout. Defensively, I have major concerns about us being able to defend the Navy triple option. Paul Johnson's teams always have this offense working very precisely. While their defense didn't seem great in the games that I've watched, the offense was very effective, moving up and down the field at will. Their QB is a dangerous runner as are the backs that they rotate in. Their QB also seemed to be fairly accurate and had a decent arm. He seemed to do pretty well operating off of the play action. Our defense's outside run containment really concerns me going into this game. Against OU, Arkansas, & ULL, if their runners/QB's were able to get to outside of the DE's, we were screwed. Navy seemed to be pretty good at getting their backs to the edge, so we may be in for a long day if we can't shut that down. Our Special teams need drastic improvement. That's all I'm going to say about it. Hopefully we won't do anything in this phase of the game that will cause game changing plays in the favor of Navy. I think that we should hope that the offense comes out executing next weekend. If so, we may have a shootout on our hands. I'd be fine with that.
  15. GreenBat, To add onto your analysis of the situation, I have been to many JJ practices. I can tell you with a great deal of certainty that FT shooting is not a highly featured part of regular practices. I have rarely seen "consequence" FT's (meaning that you have to hit a certain percentage of your FT's or you run suicides/lane slides/stairs/extend practice ect). This is a common technique to create "pressure" situations and make your FT's mean something when you are practicing. That's not to say that they don't shoot FT's during practice, just that it never really seemed to be a major focus. With us being a traditionally poor FT shooting team, I was always disappointed to never see much changed in practice to correct this. Poor FT shooting has contributed to many close Mean Green losses over the last few years. Certainly, there is no way to create true "big game" FT situations in practice, but consistent practice at FT shooting can improve any player from the line. It is all mechanics/repetition. The more often you do it, the better you become.
  16. Man, that would be sweet. There would be no better way to put all this nonsense behind us.
  17. I don't always drink beer...but when I do, I prefer Dos XX.
  18. Genius. Lets go ahead and end the thread on this one.
  19. I like that I unintentionally started the "generic white athlete" description pile on (without knowing the full story first ). CBL...you are a gentleman and a scholar *. Continue with your fine work. *note: not actually either of these things
  20. YES!!! Lets please win some f'n games. This board used to actually be fun.
  21. He is a truly cerebral player. His head is always in the game. A tough nose player, who leaves it all on the field.
  22. Exactly. I share the same frustration. We have had a great turnout this year on the alumni side, it just doesn't feature many who actually make noise. I had several friends at Homecoming from out of town, and they were asking me why everyone in the stands "just sits there". I didn't have a good response to that.
