NT Women's Golf In First Place After Day One

DENTON (9/12/05) - The North Texas women’s golf team sits in first place at the Mean Green Classic after two rounds of play on Monday afternoon at Robson Ranch. Senior Jaclyn Golden is tied for third place with a two-round score of 149.

The North Texas team posted a tourney-leading score of 301 after the first round. Sophomore Paige Padgett led the Mean Green with a first-round 73. After two rounds, Padgett stands tied for 14th with a combined score of 155. NT recorded a 311 as a team in the second round but was able to hold onto the overall lead.

Redlands CC is in second place with a team score of 617, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi holds third with a two-round score of 620. The field consists of 10 teams.

Golden is only one stroke behind the two individual leaders in first place. Lauren Cheves is tied for 16th overall with a two-round score of 157, and senior Andra Lancaster follows in 18th with a 158.

The Mean Green looks to finish play in first place on Tuesday morning at Robson Ranch.
