Blakely as a fundraiser for UNT??  Great idea .....  BUT .....  he really did not appreciate how the administration was running the program.  His personal views of NTSU, at the time, were extreely poor.  Good luck if you can pull that off with Coach Blakely.  He got the shaft just like Coach Spika who had those phenominal teams in the the toughest conference in the nation in the 60's and early 70's.

How did Dan Spika get the shaft? My memory is that he quit after NT picked Rod Rust to be athletic director over him. Dan was a great coach and to my knowledge never went back into coaching. He never got the attention he should have had coaching in the best conference in America at the time. Blakely never got the support he wanted from the administration but not many are going to keep their job being openingly critical of their boss. Also Blakely was barely a .500 coach once all of Robbin's recruits graduated. His biggest public complaint was lack of an adequate recruting budget.

      Kansas to the SEC?

      No school is going to willingly leave the SEC. I think the far more likely scenario is schools like Rutgers, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern will be "kicked down" to the ACC while FSU/Clemson go to the Big 10/SEC at some point in the 2030's.

      As much as it is discussed for the G5 conferences, it isn't very smart for the FCS conferences not to realign into regional groupings to try to reduce costs.

      Is there a limit to the number of rostered players or just a limit on the number of scholarship players. I'm not sure how the scholarship thing/limit really works in the age of NIL. At scholarship limit? Get a big enough NIL deal to cover the cost of attendance (tuition, R&B, books, fees, etc.) and then some. Maybe not something UNT is in the position to do, but what's keeping Deep Pockets U from having more "scholarship" players on the roster than the limit allows?
