  1. How long ago was this co-worker released from the asylum? Does he drool and wring his hands?
  2. Exactly, Grand, which is what I posted IMMEDIATELY after the game. It was obvious they had our number...made me sick. We have been exposed! I give Coach Dodge all the credit in the world for the ability to go back to the drawing board and make some adjustments.
  3. The lack of offense was THE problem; other phases of the game were improved. We had better be in the film room this morning figuring out how a crummy defensive team a year ago at K-State could pitch a near shutout against our offense. Had it not been for a good defensive play to give us super field position we would likely HAVE been shut out.
  4. My man Joe Miller was pretty quiet on the night. No unassisted tackles and one assist. Joe is a leader and will step it up against the Golden Showers!
  5. Thought that a win tonight was remote; all I wanted was to see us be competitive. We dropped the soap! I do not like to see us not show up year after year for games against good competition.
  6. I'm not going anywhere, I enjoy suffering. Really, I believed we could put up points on A N Y O N E. Not as confident anymore. K-State is an average Big-12 team.
  7. Yes, that WAS our average last year. The offense left them out on the field to die! Too many 3-and-outs. The defense is better, even if the scoreboard didn't show it. Remember when Dickey's offense was dead meat after Southern Miss showed how to defense it in the NO Bowl? Did K-State expose us? Are we done?
  8. New season, SOS. I need to puke. Was the offense on the plane?
  9. I don't need to say a word...my nickname says it all.
  10. Flyer, be careful what you say you will eat...this board has a memory. Just ask our old friend Stebo!
  11. Agree that he won't redshirt...but he will be redshirted. He is a competitor and will have to be kept on the sideline by the coaches. It is in his and our best interest that he be redshirted. This affords him time to bulk up a little, heal fully, and adjust to college life. He can be the backup next year and get some PT. He will have his seasons in the sun!
  12. Anyone that knows me, knows that I knew EXACTLY what I was writing. I also saw a Midwestern billboard somewhere around Georgetown when heading south.
  13. On the way back from Austin yesterday, I saw a UTA billboard (think it was around Round Rock). Even Mary Hardon Baylor had a couple along the way.
  14. I feel shitupon when I see all the merch locally except ours. However, let me tell you about my experience last night. I went to Austin yesterday for a family thing and stopped in Waco at the Cracker Barrel on the way back for a snack. There was a HUGE UT display with a full range of merchandise from toddler to adult. I did not see one damned Baylor thing...nothing. I'll bet THEY are pissed when they go in there!
  15. I WAS going to lurk and not jump in here but...what the hell. I commend ya'll for being realistic but IMHO this thread is a tad pessimistic. It IS hard to fathom a big leap in wins after where we've been. That said, my opinion is that our offense is going to rain points on people this year, which will cover a multitude of defensive sins. GD doesn't walk on water, but he knows where the rocks are and will mold our talent into a respectable defense. Special teams will be much better; we'll have speed on the coverage, a great punter, and offensively we apparently have a quality kicker. The offense is ready to explode on any given day. My fearless prediction: OOC - L K-State (competitive), W Tulsa, L LSU, W Rice = 2 & 2 Conf - W FIU, W LaLa, W LaMo, L Troy (competitive), W WKU, L FAU (competitive), W MUTS, W ArkieSt = 6 & 2 Season COULD easily be 8 - 4. With a few breaks and plays we could have been a bit better (record-wise) LAST season. PASS the Kool-Aid!
  16. Congratulations, Emmitt! She will undoubtedly become a Highlandette! Don't worry, you will survive (as I did) the Highland-Debts.
  17. I am VERY sorry to hear about this nasty injury, Greenbat. Please take care so that you will be mended and in "tailgate shape" in time for Tulsa. I'm with you in spirit at this time.
  18. First I've heard of it BUT, subject to cross-checking against other commitments, I am a definite maybe. That is something I would certainly like to do, being a TD fan and a COBA alum. Stronger response at a later time.
  19. Sorry for stating the obvious, but... we have the makings (on paper) of an effective O-Line. Our success in the OOC schedule will depend on how quickly they come together as a unit, i.e., how quickly the JUCOs are assimilated. If these guys can learn to play together in August, we'll be in excellent shape in Manhattan IMO. I remember some past seasons under the previous regime when the O-Line was populated with several new faces and the results were unpleasant for several games.
  20. Whoa!! I would go to war with those guys any day. With DeLoach working with them, that group would be fearsome. I know we have more talent and wouldn't slight any of them, but this 11 would be effective.
  21. Congratulations on the impending blessed event. When it comes to naming the child, "Mean Joe" or "Mean Joanne" would do quite nicely!
  22. Our offense depends on quality WRs. A steady flow of them through the pipe would be ideal. Looks to me like TD is going to put some in the pipe in every class to replace those graduating. So our FIRST commit for next Feb happens to be a WR...I'll take quality players' commitments in any order they come. Welcome to the Mean Green Nation, Daniel. We're damned pleased you chose UNT and can't wait to see you wearing the Green and White. You obviously have your head on straight.
  23. Working on an AHT degree? (Abundant Hair Technology) Probably was a good athlete; seems like he never recovered from being thrown to the wolves against Malcolm Kelley in Norman. Made some very scary decisions on returns and showed what appeared to be indecisiveness when fielding (not fielding) the ball. We'll never know how he might have developed under our new DC. To his credit, he had lots of heart. Best of luck to him in the biggest game of all...LIFE.
  24. Shiner-in-a-can...HOW SWEET IT IS! I went to one of my usual Shiner providers on Saturday and bought a couple of six packs. At checkout, I remarked how hard it is to FIND Shiner in cans. They said, "Oh, WE have it!"; I said "Not anymore. I just bought your last two six packs." The manager came up and I told him the basic problem, i.e., no glass at tailgating means that I have to buy a couple of six packs of cans now and then to build inventory for the season. I have his card and his promise that if I call him anytime in mid-week he would hold a case for me for a Saturday pickup. I'm going to sell that information on Ebay!!
